BN Pick Your Fave: Kiki Kamanu & Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere in Kiki Kamanu

Are we excited or what? Well if you aren’t, I am because its time for another edition of BN Pick Your Fave.
We know its been a long time coming, so we searched high and low to satisfy our BN Fashionistas. This edition sees Nigerian Fashion designer – Kiki Kamanu battle it out with the TV Presenter – Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere in a dress by Kiki Kamanu.
The eclectic fashion designer – Kiki Kamanu gave this dress its worldwide debut at the 2012 edition of the ThisDay Awards for Excellence on Monday 13th February 2012. Kiki accessorized her dress with gold drop down earrings, a gold nose ring, gold and silver bracelets, a black clutch and a pair of grey heels. She also gave this look added youthful zeal with her grey and red nail polish and let’s not forget her unmissable honey-hued afro.
Whenever STV’s E Weekly presenter – Yvonne “Vixen” Ekwere steps on the red carpet, the fashionista makes it a field day for style watchers. Yvonne stepped on the 2012 Arise Magazine Fashion Week red carpet in Kiki Kamanu. Yvonne opted for an up-do and accessorized the dress with sparkling chandelier silver earrings, a silver ring and a blue and silver bracelet.
The dress was displayed at the 2011 MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week.

Yvonne’s complexion enhances the beauty of the dress and her figure fills it out beautifully. I didn’t realise the dress was stunning until I saw it on Yvonne. However she could have made a better choice re the earrings.
exactly. The dress complements Yvonne’s skin, but Kiki worked it with the hair and the pose and her smile…Yvonne somehow can’t or doesn’t smile and she (Yvonne) is gorgeous.
obviously, Vixen wore it better, the dress is actually a grecian onspired dress, and her hairdoo, perfectly blended with the dress, i have little concerns about the earrings thou, but all in all vixen wore it better

None….the model wore it BEST. Vixen always OVER-ACCESSORIZE….You see the clothing before you actually see her. On Kiki, the same issue. Hair, accessories, too much.

Comments like this is why Nigerian women are bleaching their skin to resemble ghost. If you had said the camera did not have sufficient light to showcase the dress on Vixen well that would have made more sense. But skin tone?
oh please, this is not about skin bleaching, diff skin tones work with different colors.That is a fact, get with it.My oyibo friend who is pale will never wear certain colors like pastels because they wash her out.
Your comment is totally out of line! The fact that ‘missus’ said the skin tone didn’t match d dress goes to show that she knows more about fashion than u do. Even white people have different skin tones! So madam ‘iCrossmyheart’, when skin tone is mentioned, doesn’t necessarily mean skin color.
@rew@Pelson, I understand certain colors suit certain skin tones -such as warm and cool skin tones. But the lighting on Yvonne is not clear for one to properly deduce if she or Kiki wore it best. Yvonne looks darker in this pic than she actually is. Lighting does have an effect on how one appears in pictures or how one looks in clothes. That is why fashion houses invest in TOP PHOTOGRAPHERS because they can properly SHOW clothes in GOOD LIGHT regardless of who is wearing it. So it is not accurate to say that Yvonne’s skin tone does not suit the dress because the light is not there to accentuate it.
Skin tone is almost if not the same as skin color. That is why you have such a thing as SHADE-ISM…light-skinned people preferred in clothing or any industry to dark-skinned people.

@icrossmyheart I agree with you. The lighting is not great on Yvonne and she looks as shiny as a new penny, but are people really trying to say that orange and brown aren’t complimentary colours. The print itself is orange an brown .smh

If Kiki had a diff hair style she would have rocked it 100x better…Yvonne’s earring are too big…that dress has all sorts going on and she did not need that ultra distracting earring.
I prefer it on Yvonne, she goes for a Grecian look which I think looks better than Kiki’s.

It’s a dramatic dress, and both have lovely red-carpet drama in these pics. Choosing Kiki because it ‘goes’ with her hair.

vixen fills it out better but her skin tone and other wise beautiful earrings makes it eyesorish (if theres a word for that). her hair even feels more the dress to me than kiki’s.
