A Rare Miracle: Buried Baby Dug Out Alive in Lagos

There are some stories you hear that just make you sick to the pit of your stomach and at the same time, marvel at the wonders of God’s miracles. This story is one of them.
It would be hard, almost impossible, to understand what must have been running through the mind of the person who buried this innocent child or the circumstances that could have led him or her to take such a decision. But we are thankful that God preserved the life of this little child who was left to die and and gave her another chance at life.
Details of where the child was buried are still sketchy, but the pictures of the child buried in the ground and how she looked shortly after she was dug up with mud all over her body has gone viral online, leaving many people in shock. She was just a new born with the her placenta still attached to her navel. To see the pictures click here.

My prayer is, a deserving parents will come forward to accept, cherish, respect, LOVE and BUILD this beautiful child.
Nobody knows the circumstances surrounding her mother’s intention but God who knows all men hearts showed up.

God and his infinite mercies!!! How can you carry a child for 9 months and just throw it away like that? There are so many motherless babies homes that would gladly take in that child and find it a lovely home! Why would anyone subject such wickedness on a baby? What ‘s really going on in the world these days?! Thank God for saving this baby girl! She’s a testimony to his love and care! I wish he/she a bright future!!!

Speechless. I can’t throw curses at the mother as I have no clue as to how or why this happened. Just grateful it’s a happy ending. And may it always be a happy ending for this little one. Amen.
Wouldn’t it be better if the mother of this miracle child had aborted the baby when she noticed she was pregnant since she knew that she will bury the baby alive after child birth? Thank God for God he has a purpose for his creature.

What an amazing God!may this child leave to fulfil destiny…please why have sex or better still carry a baby for 9months and bury..I am sure she must have done all sorts to this child,it just didn’t work.Shame!

OMG, such a beautiful angel. God was breathing for her while she was ther. That baby has a beautiful purpose, they should call her blessing or miracle. To God be the glory great thing he has done.

The baby clearly is a new born and perhaps did not breathe at birth. It’s possible the mother is young and was rejected by society. There are so many reasons why the baby could be buried much of which cannot be justified. Pregnancy and birth does so much to your mental state especially in a country so riddled with poverty and a history of families abandoning young pregnant women. I would rather believe the mother believed the child was dead. That way I could sleep better
We are so quick to judge the mother. Lets not be too hasty.
1. She might be underaged and suffering from post partum depression (whether Nigerians like to acknowledge it or not, it exists).
2. The mother might not even be the one who buried the baby. For all we know, there is a mother running around helter-skelter looking for her missing baby.
Until we get all the details lets not be so quick to judge. Thank God the baby was found alive, she definitely has a bright future.

Meanwhile i can’t stop crying…,this precious, helpless, beautiful little girl…reminds me of my daughter. Thank you, thank you, thank you God for sparing this child’s life. Oh how i wish i was in a position to take this baby,care for her and give her all the love she needs. I pray someone else does, again thank you lord.ARRGH…CANT STOP THE TEARS!!

Oh God! What a heinous crime…I do hope she will be found who ever did this act of criminal. My sister is dying to conceive since her marriage. And this woman was blessed by this baby and just dumped her in the trash..What a shame.. Thank God she was found..I wish they could give her to my sister who lives in Cali.
I thank God and pray that the baby will grow to the favour and service of God and man, she will grow strong and healthy and she will stay in the course God has put her in Jesus name.

Scary!!! Thanks God the baby is alive. This is the effect of poverty and also the stigma associated with having baby out of wedlock in Nigeria. I think the stigma should stop. We should encourage girls who happen to fall into this situation, instead of castigating them. Let them know that it is not the end of life, they can still be what they want to be, provided they work hard. If they are not ready to take care of the baby, they should be encouraged to put up the baby for adoption. In US,you don’t hear of this type of thing because the girl has the option of giving the baby up for adoption, leaving the baby in a hospital or at a fireservice station.

We like judging people so fast, y put d blame on d mum when u don’t even know d real story. I have fall victim of a thing like this. Everyone tot i was dead, and had been put in a basket for disposal, but my mum did not agree. She picked my corpse and ran into a room, locked herself and started praying, just imagine after six girls ,she was blessed with a baby boy who was about to be thrown away. Thank God for Jesus who proved Himself. What if she had thrown the corpse(me) and later u find me alive, will u judge her wrongly. So be careful, don’t be quick to judge. Thank God for the baby.

This is really sad and a true miracle but it can’t be possible that the baby’s head was also buried. With the widespread usage of mobile phones a video evidence of the baby being dug up would have made the difference. We await further proofs if any to confirm the story.

@Ukonu, if they thought the baby was dead, they would have put it in a box or carton and buried it properly. The shallow grave looks like something that was done in a hurry.
Awww she is a strong lil fighter. Right from birth she didnt give up and wont in this life.
It gets me thinking, maybe the person who buried her tipped off the person who found her. I think she had been buried a few moments before she was found.

@ joyce that’s an absolute lie! just watch tlc, E! investigates and other such programes and stations. they are full of stories of women in the US doing even worse to children. so don’t act drama of how US is all that n Nigeria isn;t. This type of thing happens all over the world. Lets thank God the child is fine and get the word out to people “if they don’t want their babies or think their newborns are dead or whatever take the child to a hospital, orphanage or police station and help will be provided for the child”.
