The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi on Monday announced the resignation of its Deputy Chairman, Idris Momoh-Jimoh and Secretary, Emmanuel Egwu, to enable them to contest elective positions in 2015.

The state Chairman, Hassan Salau, announced their resignation while addressing newsmen in Lokoja.

Salau said the decision of the party chieftains was in line with the directive to all party members in appointive positions wishing to contest elective positions to resign on or before October 20th.

The party chairman said that their resignations were accepted.

He, however, stressed that both could not speak on their aspirations yet because the party was still mourning the death of one of its top women politicians.

Salau announced that the National Secretariat of the party had clarified the tenure of the current executive members at the state level.

He said it would lapse in December, against insinuations that they ought to have vacated office.
