Lagos Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Ex-boyfriend with Broken Bottle

A 20-year-old woman, Abiola Olayinka, who allegedly stabbed a man with a broken bottle, was on Tuesday brought before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Olayinka, a resident of Ijora Badia area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful assault.

The Prosecutor Cpl. Friday Inedu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 17 at No.23, Asoju St., Ijora-Badia.

Inedu said the accused conspired with others still at large and assaulted the complainant, one Olarewaju, by beating him and also stabbing him with a broken bottle on his body.

According to the complainant, the accused was his ex-girlfriend.

He said Olayinka and others stabbed him with broken bottles on the body, accusing him of cheating.

Inedu said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 243 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 243 prescribes a seven-year jail term for grievous harm.

The Senior Magistrate,  Adeyemi Amos, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case till April 23 for further hearing.
