Its just February but this might just be the BN Red Carpet Fab to beat this year! Its our red carpet picks from the Face of Africa 2010 Finale which was held in Lagos on the 6th of February 2010.
There were so many spectacular and stunning looks on the red carpet that almost didn’t know where to start!
So we have come up with a plan, all through the weekend, we’ll keep updating this post with the fabulous Face of Africa fashion picks. So be sure to click back all through the weekend to get the full scoop.

This is what we call ‘red carpet perfection’. Absolutely stunning.
Zara Okpara totally rocks this Jewel by Lisa dress – With all the high wattage embellishments, Zara lets the dress shine by pairing the dress with nude heels and muted accessories. This look represents everything we know and love about JBL. Youthful, fresh and chic! Our pick for best dressed.

You need to have seen this dress live to fully appreciate it! It was so stunning in motion. The fluid fabric and style brought out the Grecian goddess in supermodel Oluchi. This blue Tiffany Amber dress made our best dressed list for the event. Flawless.

It was a totally glamorous night – Koo Govender & Patricia Scholtemeyer captured the essence of the event in their oscar night worthy gowns. Koo went for a strapless teal dress with a ruffled fishtail train while Patricia was ravishing in a red monostrap dress. Gorgeous.

Wow. Our pick for Best Dressed couple was Omoyemi and Toks Akerele. Omoyemi rocked a cobalt chiffon Poleci dress with beautiful bronze YSL heels and a purple bag while Toks was in a blue blazer, crisp white shirt and jeans. We love everything about this. Omoyemi makes excellent use of colour and they definitely complemented each other.

Seriously we have to say we are proud of Ramsey Nouah, he just keeps getting better with age. After stepping things up on screen in ‘Reloaded’ last year. Now he is stepping up on the red carpet too. Ramsey was totally on point on the Face of Africa Red Carpet. He paired a salmon hued shirt with a cream blazer and jeans. Spot on!

We are back with more looks from the FOA Finale in Lagos

Nollywood superstar Rita Dominic went for the futuristic look with her red dress with pronounced peplums. Love that Rita is pushing the boundaries with her look rather than playing it safe. It was a high fashion event and her look fit the bill

Its the Face of Africa winners shot, last edition’s winner – Kate Menson and newly chosen Face of Africa winner – Lukando Nalungwe strike a pose in their evening gowns. Kate wore an embellished black and red gown – though the dress was nice, it seemed a tad bit older for the young beauty. Lukando’s smile brightens up her black empire waist sleeveless gown. Love the model pose too!

Ifeoma Williams and Stephanie Okereke also stuck with black. However both wore black dresses that were accentuated with jewels and bling. Ifeoma was conservative in her kaftan style gown while Stephanie wore an interesting one-sleeved knee length gown. She matched her shoes and clutch with the ruby-hued stones on her dress.

We really liked Omowunmi Akinnifesi‘s dress but not just for this occasion. The floor length gown by MAI was elegant and creative with patchwork of various fabrics giving it a unique look. However, this was a fashion event and we had hoped to see her in something more sexy and vivacious. Maybe next time.

Its so hard to believe that Eyimofe Atake is in his 50s while Dorothy is in her 40s. The couple was looking uber-fab on the FOA Red Carpet. Dorothy went with a colourful strapless maxidress while Eyimofe wore a grey suit with black trimming. Great looking couple.

City People Editor, Susan Eyo-Honesty and designer, Bridget Awosika “let it shine” in their metallic dresses. Bridget rocked out in her gunmetal dress with pronounced shoulders while Susan went for a shimmery silver look.

Helen Jennings of ARISE and Biola Alabi, MD MNet Africa were both in beautiful dresses by Jewel by Lisa. Helen wore floor length dress with a daring v-neckline from JBL’s Spring Summer 2010 collection while Biola also looked good.

The FOA Finale was a perfect date night so many couples took advantage of the opportunity to dress up and step out in style. Couples on the red carpet included IK Osakioduwa and his wife Olohi along with MD for Multichoice Nigeria, Joseph Hundah with his wife Angie (R)

Omotola Ekeinde has star power! As soon as she stepped into the FOA event, it was so clear. Omo T was dressed in a pink dress with a black waistband. She also showed off her new hairdo. She was joined by her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde who was dressed in a tan jacket paired with brown trousers. Love to see couples enjoying fun moments together.

Designer, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi shows off her unique style in this crushed velvet dress with green lace trimmings. We love Lanre because she makes her own style rules and always stands out.

Lanre DaSilva-Ajayi

Designer, Deola Sagoe was also represented on the red carpet by guests rocking her designs. While the lady in black is certainly rocking a DS. Adora Oleh‘s dress is very Deola Sagoe-eque but we haven’t seen this piece from any previous DS collections.

Georgina Edewor-Thorley and Lisa Folawiyo both looked fab in black. We love Georgina’s LBD paired with black Louboutins. Her popping red lips make the look sultry and modern. Lisa rocks one of her designs paired with the Louboutin ‘Glitter Pump’ in black.

Edewor-Thorney | Lisa Folawiyo

Mo Abudu and Nkiru Anumudu both chose looks that instantly evoked certain images. Mo’s afro and purple silk dress paired with purple t-strap Louboutins reminds us of the glorious 60s while Nkiru Anumudu’s white chiffon embellished dress paired with gold heels took us on a dream holiday to Saint Tropez.

This is what we call a marathon post! Even more fabulous Red Carpet Looks from the FOA Finale
Tokini Peterside and Sike Idowu did basic black in ultra chic ways. Their accessories added extra bit of drama to the outfits.

Dudun Peterside and Nkiru Adekoya were fabulous in jumpsuits. Nkiru’s jumpsuit was from the Spring Summer 2010 collection which Tiffany Amber showed at New York Fashion Week last year.

We’ve been searching high and low for better quality photos of the fashionistas below because we really wanted to do them justice as they were looking great at the event. Anyway, we aren’t satisfied with photo quality but here is it!
Funke Fowler looked so stunning at the Face of Africa 2010 Finale. She was rocking a one of a kind Tiffany Amber dress for the designer’s “When We Were Queens” collection. We remember when this dress was shown on the runway. There was an audible gasp from the audience..as in wow!. Funke definitely did the dress justice. Love the bone straight hair and simple accessories.

We loved this Bridget Awosika dress that a guest at the FOA Finale was wearing. The creativity is off the chain.

Elohor Aisien was bright and fab in this red bodycon dress. We love the leaf earrings as well!

Model Ojy Okpe, TV Personality Funmi Iyanda and Model/ex-beauty queen Agbani Darego all have modelesque bodies and they showed that off in stunning dresses. Ojy went for the ra-ra effect in her flapper style dress. Funmi went for all around shimmer and Agbani kept it short and chic.

I love Zara’s look. She however should have done her hair up cos that dress has got too many fine details going on at the back for her to have her hair cover some.

Someone should please drum it into Stephenie Okereke’s ears that she does not know how to choose a dress for an ocassion and how to match colours. And someone please tell Rita Dominic to go and get married. It’s written all over a face that she is emotional frustrated, it’s so obvious!

  16. Ladi

    February 20, 2010 at 1:37 am

I said the exact same thing. She posted it on another post. I’m off to read.

what the heck do u mean? is she supposed to force a man on herself?

  18. MiaJadore

    February 20, 2010 at 5:18 am

    Oluchi is always the supermodel!

Ramsey is way too hot for his own good.

I love love Zara’s shoes and she looks fabulous.

The ladies all look good for the most part but my favorites are the couples.

Rita Dominic could win the best dressed award every year if she wanted because girlfriend knows how to wear cloths. She takes her time and I agree pushes the boundaries. However, her skin is just terrible, I don’t know what is going on with her face and the hair is now tired. I don’t know about marriage, but maybe she needs some time off going to every single event in town, it get tiring after a while. There has to be more to her than playing dress up and having her picture taken and released to the public every passing day. No offence.

IK is married? He and his wife, Olohi, look so cute. When I grow up,….

on a good day i wuld smh at u. but today i will just roll eyes. ewwh ewu like u. so she should hold a man at gun point to marry her abi.
cos u dnt have self esteem and think u are only complete if u have a man does not mean she is the same.

    February 20, 2010 at 4:08 pm

That comment is way out of order.
she could first start by quitting smoking first. It seems to be doing her a lot of harm physically.
the marriage thing no be by force.loads of married persons are frustrated too.

    February 20, 2010 at 10:16 pm

u sound so ignorant o. As if marriage is that easy. May be she hasn’t found the one, maybe the one hasn’t found her, or maybe she’s ok with being single! Nigerians and their obsession with marriage! It’s a beautiful thing yes, but how many married couple are truly happy?? Its not beans jare, so let her marry when its God’s time.

  27. Nma

    February 20, 2010 at 10:36 pm

I love Zara’s look, and she’s very pretty.

Steph, what were u thinking darling??…turtle neck, flared long sleeve, single sleeve, knee length, unfitted….all in one?? and that fabric looks awfully cheap! I have seen u do better honey.

Omowunmi is so darn predictable! Even if u cut off her face and presented this pic, i would’ve know it was her…SMH…and the outfit is awful.

Ifeoma Williams, one of my fave naija fashionistas….U disappointed me in this one babe….It looks too heavy and gothic!….maybe it could’ve looked a tad better with a diff. hairstyle.

Rita D….is it just me or is she yo-yo dieting?? cos the recent pics (Nike’s event etc) i’ve seen of her, she looked slimmer. I am really not feeling that dress on her! It makes her look chunkier, and does no justice to her waist line. And with the amt of hair she had on, a nice pair of earrings could’ve helped.

    Ramsey…great job! Love the jeans.

    Love Oluchi’s dress too.

not ideal for a male reader and not much content.

  32. Friday

    February 21, 2010 at 9:23 pm

totatly agree with you Nma. Africans in generally are obessed with marriage. not many, most married couples are not happy; especially the wives who stay home and raise children and watch their dreams slip away. marriage is not happiness; happiness is creativities. Rita may not be married but she’s happy fulfilling her dream as an actor. she’s creating something that she would be remembered by. Having said that, the society doesn’t give any woman credit for being a stay at home mom or a great wife.

  33. Jen

    February 22, 2010 at 4:12 am

There are unhappy married couples but not most are unhappy please. Some choose to be stay-at-home mums and love spending thei hubbies’ money.

Lets have a balanced argument here, we’re looking at two extremes!!!

    February 22, 2010 at 4:50 am

Our dear Wumni is too beautiful for her dress!Oh well, she’ll be back again. 🙂

Every JBL dress featured is a stunner…I’d wear all of them. Zara is too gorgeous.

Abeg, who is Ijeoma married too? A Nigerian or oyibo? I’m just nosy sha. 🙂

Rita D. missed the boat on this one. Her dress is okay, not exceptional. But, the hair is aging her…like is she auditioning to play Diana Ross? No fine pass…!

All the married couples look fine sha. They way it should be!

And, yes, who is the (random) white lady? I’m based abroad…need context/gist. LOL.

  35. Buttermint

    February 22, 2010 at 4:52 am

I love Zara’s dress…would be ten times better if was fitted, without the belt, and the burse.

Rita Dominic is very beautiful however that dress was not it at all…..I really would have love to see her in something more regal. With a tamed hair!( still love Ms Dominic)

Stephanie..Oh Stephanie….what is really up with you these days….you just cant get it right….WARRA HECKK do you have on…..sweerrrie you look a HOT MESS!!!! If I were you, I would rebuke the spirit of fashion misfit slowly entering my life…wat is going on. I am very disappointed, these days you are slowly becoming a money miss road.

  36. mo

    February 22, 2010 at 4:56 am

Rita D…….small girl like you! you don begin flex ‘hairstyle muscle’ with Eucharia – make u take am easy o! And u no kuku dey tall like UK (God no remember that side for ur matter). I agree that Stephanie is now a money-miss-road; so sad really. Omowunmi’s outfit looks cheap; even Ifeoma’s – looks like they showed one tailor at Obalende photos from that Ruth Osime’s pull out magazine and had certain attires copied – hahahahhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!. Susan, Oluchi and Yemi A…… your outfits are HOTTTTTTT!!!! Folake – you look so regal, your dress is fit for a hollywood star! By the way, how much does it cost? An arm? A leg? No matter, I gotta to make IT o! IJN, Amen

    I love Zara’s dress really cute….

    Oluchi very classy…love the look!

Omowunmi ur dress was not for that event keyword “RED CARPET”…maybe if u had worn it to a causal event u might score points….

Rita Rita….this ur dress made u look like an over-sized hibiscus flower. Horrible. I have seen u in better so please trash or give out to someone to do their sweet 16….ur shoes are lovely though. As for the hair less is always better..u look like u fell off a tree and just pushed ur hair back for the picture…..

Stephanie what can i say HOT MESS….i don’t know where to start…not sure if u were giving us the 70’s or 80’s look…u didn’t pull it off…u should have tried a nice dress like Oluchi it would have done wonders…the dress messed u up…

    February 24, 2010 at 8:39 am

Whoo!! What do we ‘ave ‘ere? Now let me critic! No one can top Zara Opara’s look!! Her ensemble was ON POINT!! Oluchi looked stunning; blue works wonders for you love…Koo Govender and Patricia Scholtemeyer…. I’ll just say you rocked the red carpet. Omoyemi & Toks Akerele you guys looked FAB together….you rawked! Ramsey: You did not disappoint…5 star looks!!!
RITA! RITA! RITA!! How many times did I call you? I don’t like the look o…other commenter’s seem to like this one but I ain’t feeling the space age look.. I like to think dress age appropriate and I aint feelin this one on you, maybe it would have worked for a younger person I think you are showing way too much thigh…anyway that’s my take…Kate Mensah (Not Menson BELLA!!!!) You did not give your wardrobe the thought you should have and its obvious!!! What did you do? Wake up last minute, put on the closest outfit, pack your hair in a bun and jump out the door? Your make up was bad, your hair was bad, your jewelry was rubbish and the dress was a disaster!!! Lukando Nalungwe: WINNER!!! Ifeoma Williams, sorry, you seriously disappointed with this one oh!! You took a huge risk with this outfit and it did not pay. Yeah I like the subtle makep, your simple jewelry, but the dress earned you like -100 points on this one. Stephanie Okereke….I think you need a stylist. LIKE. SERIOUSLY! Bad makeup, bad dress, bad accessories =Flop.
Omowumi, your dress was nice love, but did you think you were going for Chimamanda’s “The thing around your neck” reading? Sweetheart, it was supposed to be red carpet!!! Folake Folarin-Coker what can I say? SHINE ON GIRL!! Show em how to rock!! Eyimofe & Dorothy Atake as usual looked lovely buy hey Mofe – don’t we know that outfit already? I’m just sayin o! I know this is a re-rock but try not to make them too close k?  Susan Eyo-Honesty & Bridget Awosika…you guys were ok to me, slightly above average but Bridge, please don’t use too much pancake as when the light hit your face it shows!!! Helen Jennings & Biola Alabi look ok, Helen looked better cos of skin colour but Biola rather looked like she was going for the opening of a new spa or something. She doesn’t have that red carpet glow about…
The couples….werre….so….so…like a yoyo for me! IK…I don’t like the contrast between your shirt and the jacket and your pants….something’s amiss here love! For the second couple, I aint feelin the wifes dress and on the third couple the guys get up is not on at all! Haba my guy!!!
Omotola, I’m only feelin your hair on this one……the outfit was not happening!! Lanre DaSilva Ajayi….NO!! NO!! You were a clolour riotin hot mess!! And the fact that you are skin toning doesn’t help….You should pay attention to your feet ma’am….Seriously!!
Next is the lady in black who is certainly rocking a DS. You outfit is not fine ooooo!! The DS outfit is not nice. Period. Adora Oleh’s out fit is better…she shines all through!! Makeup hair, everything!! Georgina Edewor-Thorney looks ok…way above average and Lisa Folawiyo is ok but the hairstyle is wrong for the outfit…Nigerians need to know which outfit works with which hairstyle!! The hair just dulls the whole get up sha!! Mo Abudu & Nkiru Anumudu are just too much money IMHO. Mo’s dress looks like the work of an Obioma (local tailors who carry their sewing machines around on d street)..the finishing is so poor…look at the little details like the hemming job and the sides….It doesn’t even sit well on her….her tummy is bulging and her breasts are drooping!!! Nkiru looks, well, like, NKIRU!! I hate that just out of bed hair look!! It doesn’t werk fore me!!!

For some reason, I think Rita Dominic is rocking the dress well, and those shoes are too fab. Her hair looks nice, she can just tone it down a little bit. She doesn’t look stressed to me. So what, if she’s at every party or event, or likes to dress up, at least she’s not linked with every man, or has a bad reputation about her. She’s beautiful.
I will give the best dressed to Zara, she looks fabulous.
Omowunmi can do no wrong, she’s pretty, and knows what looks good on her.
Folake, she’s just a natural beauty, gorgeous.
In the couple section, the last couple, the woman is beautiful, nice skin, and they are cute.
Oluchi, she always look too simple, don’t get the hype about her
Stephanie usually dresses well, i don’t know what happened, but I know she will do better next time.
Omotola looks a mess, the hair, and the outfit is not working.
Nkiru always look lost, scary, clownish as usual, I don’t know why she keeps embarrasing herself.
    Ramsey Noah, looks good.

I agree with almost all your views except that u were too kind to Mo Abudu and her fellow desperado. They look disastrous quite frankly, I think Mo should be able to afford better tailors and they should both leave the experimental looks for the young ‘uns. Their time don pass abeg…didn’t they see folake folarin?

It’s because bella has no serious competition that she can do this. She can keep us all on a long ting and we’ll still keep coming back. How fortunate for her. I realize she’s busy but DAMN. This is taking the pisssssss, lol.

Wow!! They all look good for the most part. Will really like to see these nollywood acts step up their game in fashion. Too many designers out now to still be seeing some of the mediocre dresses on some of them. Loved omoyemi’s dress. The color looked lovely on her. Adora, Funke, Bridget Awosika, Zara, and Ifeoma Williams have to be my top 5! These ladies looked fantastic. Also particularly love that white Bridget Awosika dress. Very creative, need to see more from this designer!

Oh yes and Ramsey looking hot!

What happened to Nkiru Anumudu’s upper face? It’s three shades lighter than her lower face or could it be lighting? You also need to learn to dress age appropriate and Mo Abudu – your wig seems a lil disfigured. Dress is ok.
