BN Red Carpet Fab: Face of Africa 2010 Finale
Its just February but this might just be the BN Red Carpet Fab to beat this year! Its our red carpet picks from the Face of Africa 2010 Finale which was held in Lagos on the 6th of February 2010.
There were so many spectacular and stunning looks on the red carpet that almost didn’t know where to start!
So we have come up with a plan, all through the weekend, we’ll keep updating this post with the fabulous Face of Africa fashion picks. So be sure to click back all through the weekend to get the full scoop.
This is what we call ‘red carpet perfection’. Absolutely stunning.
Zara Okpara totally rocks this Jewel by Lisa dress – With all the high wattage embellishments, Zara lets the dress shine by pairing the dress with nude heels and muted accessories. This look represents everything we know and love about JBL. Youthful, fresh and chic! Our pick for best dressed.
You need to have seen this dress live to fully appreciate it! It was so stunning in motion. The fluid fabric and style brought out the Grecian goddess in supermodel Oluchi. This blue Tiffany Amber dress made our best dressed list for the event. Flawless.
It was a totally glamorous night – Koo Govender & Patricia Scholtemeyer captured the essence of the event in their oscar night worthy gowns. Koo went for a strapless teal dress with a ruffled fishtail train while Patricia was ravishing in a red monostrap dress. Gorgeous.
Wow. Our pick for Best Dressed couple was Omoyemi and Toks Akerele. Omoyemi rocked a cobalt chiffon Poleci dress with beautiful bronze YSL heels and a purple bag while Toks was in a blue blazer, crisp white shirt and jeans. We love everything about this. Omoyemi makes excellent use of colour and they definitely complemented each other.
Seriously we have to say we are proud of Ramsey Nouah, he just keeps getting better with age. After stepping things up on screen in ‘Reloaded’ last year. Now he is stepping up on the red carpet too. Ramsey was totally on point on the Face of Africa Red Carpet. He paired a salmon hued shirt with a cream blazer and jeans. Spot on!
Part 2
We are back with more looks from the FOA Finale in Lagos
Nollywood superstar Rita Dominic went for the futuristic look with her red dress with pronounced peplums. Love that Rita is pushing the boundaries with her look rather than playing it safe. It was a high fashion event and her look fit the bill
Its the Face of Africa winners shot, last edition’s winner – Kate Menson and newly chosen Face of Africa winner – Lukando Nalungwe strike a pose in their evening gowns. Kate wore an embellished black and red gown – though the dress was nice, it seemed a tad bit older for the young beauty. Lukando’s smile brightens up her black empire waist sleeveless gown. Love the model pose too!
Ifeoma Williams and Stephanie Okereke also stuck with black. However both wore black dresses that were accentuated with jewels and bling. Ifeoma was conservative in her kaftan style gown while Stephanie wore an interesting one-sleeved knee length gown. She matched her shoes and clutch with the ruby-hued stones on her dress.
We really liked Omowunmi Akinnifesi‘s dress but not just for this occasion. The floor length gown by MAI was elegant and creative with patchwork of various fabrics giving it a unique look. However, this was a fashion event and we had hoped to see her in something more sexy and vivacious. Maybe next time.
Part 3
MORE from FOA
Folake Folarin-Coker is simply glowing in this iridescent single-strap dress by Tiffany Amber. Beyond gorgeous!
Its so hard to believe that Eyimofe Atake is in his 50s while Dorothy is in her 40s. The couple was looking uber-fab on the FOA Red Carpet. Dorothy went with a colourful strapless maxidress while Eyimofe wore a grey suit with black trimming. Great looking couple.
City People Editor, Susan Eyo-Honesty and designer, Bridget Awosika “let it shine” in their metallic dresses. Bridget rocked out in her gunmetal dress with pronounced shoulders while Susan went for a shimmery silver look.
Helen Jennings of ARISE and Biola Alabi, MD MNet Africa were both in beautiful dresses by Jewel by Lisa. Helen wore floor length dress with a daring v-neckline from JBL’s Spring Summer 2010 collection while Biola also looked good.
The FOA Finale was a perfect date night so many couples took advantage of the opportunity to dress up and step out in style. Couples on the red carpet included IK Osakioduwa and his wife Olohi along with MD for Multichoice Nigeria, Joseph Hundah with his wife Angie (R)
Part 4
Omotola Ekeinde has star power! As soon as she stepped into the FOA event, it was so clear. Omo T was dressed in a pink dress with a black waistband. She also showed off her new hairdo. She was joined by her husband, Captain Matthew Ekeinde who was dressed in a tan jacket paired with brown trousers. Love to see couples enjoying fun moments together.
Designer, Lanre DaSilva Ajayi shows off her unique style in this crushed velvet dress with green lace trimmings. We love Lanre because she makes her own style rules and always stands out.
Designer, Deola Sagoe was also represented on the red carpet by guests rocking her designs. While the lady in black is certainly rocking a DS. Adora Oleh‘s dress is very Deola Sagoe-eque but we haven’t seen this piece from any previous DS collections.
Georgina Edewor-Thorley and Lisa Folawiyo both looked fab in black. We love Georgina’s LBD paired with black Louboutins. Her popping red lips make the look sultry and modern. Lisa rocks one of her designs paired with the Louboutin ‘Glitter Pump’ in black.
Mo Abudu and Nkiru Anumudu both chose looks that instantly evoked certain images. Mo’s afro and purple silk dress paired with purple t-strap Louboutins reminds us of the glorious 60s while Nkiru Anumudu’s white chiffon embellished dress paired with gold heels took us on a dream holiday to Saint Tropez.
Part 5
This is what we call a marathon post! Even more fabulous Red Carpet Looks from the FOA Finale
Tokini Peterside and Sike Idowu did basic black in ultra chic ways. Their accessories added extra bit of drama to the outfits.
Dudun Peterside and Nkiru Adekoya were fabulous in jumpsuits. Nkiru’s jumpsuit was from the Spring Summer 2010 collection which Tiffany Amber showed at New York Fashion Week last year.
Its safe but sometimes, black just works!
Part 6
We’ve been searching high and low for better quality photos of the fashionistas below because we really wanted to do them justice as they were looking great at the event. Anyway, we aren’t satisfied with photo quality but here is it!
Funke Fowler looked so stunning at the Face of Africa 2010 Finale. She was rocking a one of a kind Tiffany Amber dress for the designer’s “When We Were Queens” collection. We remember when this dress was shown on the runway. There was an audible gasp from the audience..as in wow!. Funke definitely did the dress justice. Love the bone straight hair and simple accessories.
We loved this Bridget Awosika dress that a guest at the FOA Finale was wearing. The creativity is off the chain.
Elohor Aisien was bright and fab in this red bodycon dress. We love the leaf earrings as well!
Model Ojy Okpe, TV Personality Funmi Iyanda and Model/ex-beauty queen Agbani Darego all have modelesque bodies and they showed that off in stunning dresses. Ojy went for the ra-ra effect in her flapper style dress. Funmi went for all around shimmer and Agbani kept it short and chic.
Nigerian celebs really hit the scene at the FOA finale, you’ve seen Omotola, Rita, Stephanie etc… above. Now check out some more.
That’s it! Thanks for following our BN Red Carpet Fab for MNet’s Face of Africa 2010.
