New mums should definitely not put themselves under immense pressure to lose post-baby weight. However, maintaining a healthy diet and exercising (with your Doctor’s guidance) during pregnancy definitely makes losing post-baby weight much easier.

U should know us now, we like to copy copy everything Hollywood does. It’s sad, please let’s learn to stay true to ourselves. Even if we copy, don’t make it so obvious. I’m glad, naija women are starting to take care of their weight.

My dear, it is news. Serious news! Some people think it is impossible to look fit/toned/ slimmer etc after giving birth. Some people don’t even know they can work out during pregnancy.

to me she luks a little bit pale, maybe it is the dieting but i tink a nursing mother with a suckling child shd feed comfortably well and give d baby fat sometime b4 exercising on it n not trying 2 shed d fat automatically.

      December 11, 2011 at 12:55 am

yea, i thought she looked pale & a lil drawn too. The toil of pregnancy always reflects on ladies faces, regardless of how hard we try 🙁

Lovely! It is good to see that Nigerian women are embracing the truth and fact that even after you become a mother, you shouldn’t become a slob, rather take care of yourself. Bella, like you put it, we shouldn’t exert excessive pressure on ourselves to do this but we definitely need to be more aware of this. Looking and being healthy. I am therefore very impressed. All these bitter comments, I guess are from oversized jealous hippos. Don’t worry ladies, God too go change una fat, just hit the gym. x x x

    December 5, 2011 at 5:34 pm

She should concentrate on breastfeeding & taking care of the baby. The real challenge occurs when she stops breastfeeding.

    • Jay

      December 5, 2011 at 11:13 pm

Guidance Counselor Latifah, who told you she is not breastfeeding and taking care of her baby? So she should not live her life and be healthy for her and her family? Unnecessary talk!

I’ve learnt that the longer post baby fat stays, the higher the chances that the woman will never regain anything close to pre baby figure. Kudos to her for putting in the work coz its not easy!

i wonder how many ladies writing on this blog are expecting or are mothers. post baby figure nonsense. No one is asking anyone to look like a slob, but no one knows the extensive exercise regime, countless nannies, and cooks/ nutritionists to make her a diet plan. How do we want to encourage Nigerian women to achieve this with out saying what really goes down in the background. Its wrong to copy what we see hollywood and E!news doing, lets get the good out of it BN, and drop the nonsense, be original for what its worth. Thumbs up to Steph for looking good, but BN, get more gist out of this and make it news what reading about.

  21. On point!

It takes a considerable amount of effort and assistance (trainers, nutritionist, chef etc) to ‘bounce back’ in 2 months. This is definitely not the norm and that should be highlighted so future moms don’t get into a tizzy when their bounce back is not as rapid. This should definitely not be the expectation for all.

It can easily take 1yr or more to lose post-baby weight and that is with dedication to eating well and exercising appropriately.

And she looks amazing!!! While it’s not the norm, let’s celebrate her efforts nevertheless because she had to have put in major work to get to this point.
