“Beauté Enchantée” – The Resort 2012 Collection Lookbook by Nigerian Design Label, Rouge Vallari

Nigerian design label, Rouge Vallari is out with its resort 2012 collection themed “Beauté Enchantée“, meaning Enchanted Beauty. The label’s creative director, Chichi Iyiegbuniwe shows her versatility once more and creates a sensual, feminine and proudly African collection, for the every day woman who is not afraid of being playful and flaunting her ever-changing style.

Rouge Vallari’s resort 2012 collection exudes playful sophistication, from sparkling metallic to vibrant patterns. Splashes of colour juxtaposed with dark hues are effervescent as the intense and fierce multi-hued creations. The collection is satiated with powerful navy-midnight ocean blues, organic fruity red-oranges, crisp zingy reds, bright near luminous yellow and a pervasive range of green tones.

The additions of sheer tops, long maxi skirts, big clutches and floor length dresses compliment the Gorky resplendent shades of pinks and amber which feel both whimsical and luxurious. True to the designers intricate bead crafting, subtle inclusion of key trends, use of light and dark contrast against a milieu of bold prints and diffusions of fabrics from silk to Ankara, gives this collection a concentrated intensity deeply saturated with a smoldering edginess.

Errrm sorry to bring this up but since when do we need a resort collection in Africa? It’s obvious many people don’t know what a resort collection means. Resort wear is clothing designed for trips to sunny warm climates in winter. They mix a bit of the previous fall/winter silhouettes with sneak peek and the upcoming spring summer collections. It’s a bit of a bridge between the seasons. For people who live in cold snowy places a brief retreat to somewhere warm is a welcome break and designers make special clothes for these holiday places such as Caribbean beaches, tropical islands, and for boat cruises through warm tropical seas.

I know it’s a fancy word but it’s being used here in the wrong context. BN please educate these designers!

Resort is not just for vacay. It is a type of group in a collection too.
And if it were for vacay nko? So because Africa is warm, you cannot make clothes for South of France or maybe Tuscan??? ‘Africa’ is the only destination abi??
Resort can also be winter clothes as ppl go on ski trips, etc.
@Tari, Too many unashamedly uneducated people like yourself on the internet.

It isn’t necessarily a bad thing that she made a resort collection, its the fact that the clothes don’t exactly scream ‘resort'(Look to tari’s comment for the definition of a resort collection). The clothes are more Spring/Summery, its bad enough that she didn’t get the collection period right the photography now gives it a tacky look. This is constructive criticism, please do a lot more research before exposing your ‘collections’ for the public to view. With that being said, nice attempt and better luck next time.
