Rita Dominic

On Friday 19th October 2012, the city of Lagos played host to the creme de la creme of the Nigerian entertainment world as well as top socialites and dignitaries as one of this year’s most anticipated movie, The Meeting, a MORD Pictures production for The Audrey Silva Company co-produced by Mildred Okwo and Rita Dominic, starring Femi Jacobs, Nse-Ikpe Etim, Linda Ejiofor and Jide Kosoko, premiered in style at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.

The spectacular event was a sight to behold as guests were ushered into the arrivals lounge, which was decorated with black and white cut-outs of the movie’s cast as well as Hollywood screen icon, Audrey Hepburn and veteran Nollywoood actress, Joke Silva. The conference hall for the screening of the movie, transformed into a sophisticated and stylish theatre by Elizabeth R for all guests. The fruit and chocolate fountains proved a big hit among the guests even as they marveled at the large cut-outs of actors.

Following a star studded photo call, the host, Basorge Tariah Jnr which saw the introduction of special guests and dignitaries including Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, Alhaji Umar Sanni, Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Magnus Abe, Oronto Douglas, Alhaji Musa Bello, Florence Ita Giwa, Princess Abah Folawiyo, Erelu Dosunmu, as well as the cast, presidential speech by Diezani Alison-Madueke was delivered on behalf of His Excellency President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, welcome speeches by National President of the Association of Movie Producers and by Mildred Okwo.

With anticipation building up well into the evening, Chica Chukwu sang the National Anthem to start the event. Soon after, it was time for celebrated Nigerian songbirds Waje and Lami to serenade the audience. Waje looked radiant in a green dress as she belted out her most recent single “Oko Mi” while Lami had her rock chick glam on with an animal print peplum top and a pair of wet look leggings.

Soon after the opening credits rolled up on the big screen and the audience were captured for the next two hours and laughter, the audience particularly entertained by Rita Dominic’s feisty Clara Ikemba character and her antics.

As the final credits rolled, it was time for the cast and crew to take a bow in front of the audience which boasted noted Nollywood stars such as Joke Silva, Genevieve Nnaji, Funke Akindele, Chioma Akpotha, artists Tuface Idibia, Darey Art-Alade, eLDee the Don, Tiwa Savage, Weird MC, Omawumi as well as the co-chairman of The Audrey Silva Company Rita Dominic, delivered a vote of thanks and bid the attendants a safe journey home whilst remembering the victims of flood disasters in different parts of the country.

I adore the colour on both ladies, and I am absolutely in love w/ the headwrap that Rita added to her outfit. It gave that dress more “ooomph”!!

See roll call o….at least this time more people looked like de were actually heading for an event not just their mallam’s shop… Also VERY refreshing to see more real actors dis time not just so so Tonto n Ini Edo n co.

Zik Zulu Adigwe- Nice seeing you, been too long. That’s one actor with fabulous diction… pls teach dis our new set o- note to Oge Okoye, Chika Ike, Tonto, Jim Iyke n d rest.

    Now my two fave people:
Kalu Ikeagwu- Thank u thank u thank u for being d MAN showing the BOYS how its done! *Note to Ebuka- dis is how to wear ABE, also note to d ‘crotch-squeezing guys out there (if u care to, pls refer to ‘Headies red carpet’ comments for d list)!*

Oreka Gordis- U just know how to hit it right! *Please share your tips on dressing and looking your age with Sister Toke, God bless u as u do so*

    Onto d rest:
Rita- Nice tailoring by Phunk Afrique
Nike Oshi…- Way too much fabric for ur tiny frame, yes its classic Lanvin draping, but u need height to pull dat off…@ d moment ur right arm looks like its in a golden cast.
Michelle Dede- me likey!!! *insert smile icon*
Linda Ejiofor- u stopped right on d edge of tipping into granny land, so kudos.
Sharon Ojong- looks better here dan d headies pls stick to dis type of looks b4 u get any weirder.
    Eku- Same ol..
Not a lot of memorable looks, just more nice ones than d dodgy ones.

O nooo! I was bout to forget- Of allll d disastrous ones, NSE IKPE ETIM is unforgivable, especially as a member of d CAST- r u for REAL???!!! As in did u really wear dat run down Amish uniform for free??? *honest question* cos I’ll understand if u were paid to…

Rita, fresh and lovely. Tiwa on point as usual. Genny always my girl. A lot of lovely ladies. Best for me is

I don’t know her. A lot need new hair dressers (the hair styles made them scary …
Some of those legs should have been covered. Hit the weight room or go to one of these boot camps if you insist of wearing short dresses.

    • lamina

      October 25, 2012 at 8:13 pm

I Sharon ezeamaka girl needs to go to the gym and get a flat tummy before she comes here with that cut and sew short dress and protruding tummy and whats with her hair? is she trying to start growing dreads? otherwise, why should she turn up here with that over-due hair!?
Thank God for the Fab ladies in the house.

  32. Idak

    October 24, 2012 at 3:57 pm

This première is incomplete without Omotola, God’s best gift to Nigeria 🙂

    • What did you say?

      October 24, 2012 at 4:23 pm

You just had to bring her name ehn. Who remembered that she wasn’t in attendance. You sha had to make her relvant by force. Please. Better she was not there sef, the rep for the event for downgrade. She has crowd, no doubt, but a classy, elegant, sophisticated, power players, crowd, erm…. NOT. Go check out pictures from her premiere’s, defninitely not this classy, elegant, and sophisitcated, and definitely not a roll call of such distinguished people. The guests, knew what they were coming for, unlike most events, they dressed appropriately and represented well. No gbo gbo ero for this side. So please abeg. Omotola get her level, its sure not here, at all. Rita is a quiet, understated powerhouse. Check out the cast of this movie na, I mean, come on. I was reading the names, and smiling. Those are the kind of names I want to see in a production. Well done to the whole team, and Elizabeth R, you go girl. Omotola’s PR machine, I hope you can see how to do things. This has set the staaaaaaaaaaandard. No tacky, hot mess that is common with so called premieres and red carpet events.

    • Sass

      October 24, 2012 at 6:08 pm

You hit the nail right on the head! Certainly couldnt have said it better. Knew someone was going to drag her name in here. Maybe her pr. Genny’s got more class and sophistication. Omotola is a local chic trying to polish her image by force. Unfortunately, with class, you either got it or u don’t.

    • Laide

      October 26, 2012 at 1:16 am

Lmao, see the epistle you wrote on Omotola, …and yes I just had to reply.

Genny: Get out of here, I was told the same thing too. Can you imagine, that. Chai. We are wearing the same material, in different shades of blue. LMAO

Go to Type in the word “class.” And the definition it’ll give you is plain and simply: Gennevieve Nnaji. Compare her clean and classy look to the cut and nail velvet contraption that Omotola wore to the Amina premiere. By the way, great movie. Beautiful event.

    • Janet

      October 24, 2012 at 6:33 pm

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL “cut and nail velvet contraption” THIS IS THE BEST COMMENT EVER! BN Biko move this to the top so everyone can laugh as I have. BN commentators are too much abeg

      October 24, 2012 at 10:49 pm

Roomandpalor I remember addressing you on the TW magazine post on Omotola. You and Idak, I see both of you have intentionally brought her name here to cause some controversy. Wow! Such a low! Most of the people there are friends of them all …what’s your silly point? Ita Giwa, Nike oshinowo….I’ve seen pics of them all together … If she dosent attend an event, you loosers want to attack her for it. It’s terrible …she dosent have to attend all events!

Tiwa has stepped up her shoe game. Nice take on the Valentino creation. Rita looks divine. First time i’m not feeling Eku. The picture angle is not good viewing. Nike’s face has no expression. Her knuckles are now black and she is ring-less.

    • Lola

      October 24, 2012 at 4:58 pm

Ha PJ. Ha, such an Iconic picture of Audrey Hepburn, if you wake up from coma, you will recognise that picture, especially that dress, that basically started the LBD phenomenon. Ok, let me educate you a little. That picture was a scene from Breakfast at Tiffanys. Ring, a bell yet? I think not. Don’t make me wake her up from her grave to slap you o. Julia Roberts ko, J wow ni. Mind yaself o. Lol

Does anyone know how much it costs, to hire Elizaebth R to plan a wedding. Ballpark figure. Also, does she plan for small weddings. I mean 250 – 300 guests max. I’ve started fasting and praying that our families agree to this number.

    • Honeycoco

      October 24, 2012 at 7:27 pm

I know a wedding wit a smaller crowd that she planned but dont know her prize o. So 200+ crowd isnt too small.

You can tell the prestigiousness of this event, by those NOT in attendance. I mean, no Efe (can’t remember his surname), No Toke Makinwa, no Toolz, no Uti, Alex, Halima Abubakar, no AY and his wife, no Annie Macaulay Idibia, and the rest of the red carpet addicts (in america, we call them fame whores – *cough *cough, pardon my french). Even the one that her PR people have managed to attacher her name with this classy event was not there. Rita darling, it will be well with you. The team that put this all together, you guys are ROCKSTARS. Ibidun of Elizabeth R, you are planning my wedding. Shikena.

Point of Correction Lola, Chanel started the little black dress phenomenon. The dress she has on is Givenchy. Check your facts before you criticize others…:D

    • Seun

      October 24, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Get your fashion history correct Ore, Chanel started the LBD phenomenon, but it wasn’t UNTIL after Audrey Hepburn wore that dress for Breakfast at Tiffany’s did the LBD really really take off and become mainstream i.e. an item of clothing that could/must be found in any woman’s wardrobe. In Chanel’s time, it was just a select few older, and very rich ladies, who wore it. Listen to fashion journalists talk about what brought the LBD to limelight, and they will all mention Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. So Coco, brought it to the world, but it was on Audrey, that the world took notice, and women everywhere started wanting the LBD after the movie

    • Ore

      October 25, 2012 at 6:08 pm

“Start” means the point of which something has it’s origin. Chanel started it simple. And mind you, she did get recognition. Go and read books on Coco Chanel and you would realize she did. It doesn’t matter if it was a few rich women that had access to her clothes. The fact remains she still started it. So Seun, add English grammar to your Fashion History course. Thanks!

    • Ore

      October 26, 2012 at 7:59 pm

Seun, don’t contradict yourself. “Start” means to begin something therefore, I am very correct in saying Chanel started the LBD phenomenon just as you rightly said. The question is not who made it accessible but who started it.

It was a beautiful premiere and let’s keep it at that. no need dragging personalities who weren’t in attendance into your scuffle of words. October 25, 2012 at 7:42 pm

I am so confused and I am not a hater at all. I actually really love me some Rita Dominic. In MY OWN OPINION, Rita’s dress is not all that. The fabric looks tacky and very cheap. Nothing fantastic about the cut either. It just screams cheap cheap cheap. And that turban on her head is sooooo 1995. That wudda been super cool then. But not in 2012. I am a Rita fan and a phunkafrique fan but I am sorry, that was not a flattering outfit

But she is NOT the star of this film, Rita Dominic is the star of the movie so why should Genevieve’s name be mentioned? Accord respect where respect is due. Nobody would put another actress’ name as the headline when it’s a Genevieve Nnaji movie that is being promoted, so why should the same not be true for another actress? Y’all need to stop getting drunk on some damn Genevieve Koolaid. You can be a fan but a fanatic is a little scary much.

      October 26, 2012 at 9:17 pm

Oh my goodness!!! SOOO MUCH to say…ok let’s start with the setting!! AMAZING setting and Venue!!Really looked classy! Ok then we move onto the outfits…Rita looked BREATHTAKING!! Tiwa’s feet must’ve been hurting in those awful shoes…did NOT like those shoes. Genny looked stunning as usual and so did Joke Silva (the matron of Nollywood). Also so this is where Genny was ehn instead of her to show face at the GIAMA Awards in Houston?? Issorai! Then there’s the problem with Nse’s “partner” or whoever that person is to her. Abeg make una help me, I’m in support of biracial relationships 100% but what I do not get and don’t want to get is why our beautiful actresses/celebs always fall our hand when they date outside the box. Plz if ur gonna date oyibo person can he NOT look like ur sugardaddy or ur grandpa…coz I KNOW there are LOTS and LOTS of FINE oybio men ou there. If it’s not possible to get one, u might as well stick to what u know.. ahn ahn. See falling of hand from Nse…anyway sha God dey. Also I LOVED the pic of Genny and Rita together…too cute! 🙂
