A Country that Has Failed to Realize its Potential! Watch the TEDxYouth@Maitama Talk by CBN Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi – “Overcoming the Fear of Vested Interest”

What do you know about Nigeria? Really, what do you know? Well, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi shares a wealth of information in his talk at the TEDxYouth@Maitama.

According to Sanusi, Nigeria has always had potential but never been able to realize that potential. We specialize in exporting what we do not produce but imports what we produce. Nigeria is one of the world’s largest producer of crude oil that does not refine petroleum products. One of the largest producers of cassava but does not export starch or ethanol. A country with one of the world’s largest tomato belt but yet the world’s largest importer of potential.

Our problem is not our lack of potential… we’re still talking about the potentials of Nigeria and a host of Asian countries have managed to turn their potential into reality. So what is that thing we need to do to break that barrier? We need to overcome the fear of vested interests!
