You’ve seen her wedding photos and rocking first dance, now here’s Rolake’s BN Bridal Shower, which was held this March, in London. Her cousins – Jojo of UK Bridal Shower Blog, SwanSoSweet.com and Ike of UK Pretty Party Shop – Showerella.com – joined forces to host a sugary sweet bridal shower for this special Bride. Here is how Ike described the day:
“Anyone that spends a few minutes with Rolake will quickly realize that she’s one classy lady. We instantly knew her bridal shower had to be sweet and stylish. The decor and shower vibe was girly and whimsy but with a sophisticated touch. We took candy pink – Rolake’s favorite colours – and worked this into various decor and party props.
Jojo and I are DIY-addicts so pretty much everything at the shower was homemade. Being a professional graphics designer, I designed a Pinkberry party printable theme for the shower (party signs, menu cards, food flags and drink signs), which incorporated the bride’s favorite colours.
Jojo and Feyi (Rolake’s classmate) styled a lovely dessert table around alphabet dish trays which spelt out the word: P-A-R-T-Y; and boy, did we get creative with the food! Simple things such as watermelon were transformed into delectable hor d’oeuvres using heart cookie-cutters. My favourite dessert was the cheesecake, served in port glasses with a cherry on top – they were just as much fun to eat as they were to make.
We set up a wishing tree for guests to leave kind words and wishes to the bride. We also played classic bridal shower icebreaker games such as “He Said, She Said”. We asked the groom some questions before the shower and asked Rolake the same questions … needless to say, she got 90% of the questions right!
Instead of the usual toilet-paper wedding dresses activity, we set up a classy perfume bar. The guests got make their own perfumes at the Shower and take it home as a keepsake. The “Scentelier” Perfume Bar activity arrived as a ready-to-go kit, so all we needed to do was set out the oils on a stand. The kit included full instructions and perfume blending guides, which meant the girls were able to blend their perfect scents in minutes. For anyone looking for a different kind of Bridal Shower, I would recommend hosting an activity such as perfume making or fascinator making as it adds a special twist to the day.
For the food, we had pigs-in-blankets, sausage rolls and spring rolls followed by buffet of jollof rice, chicken and plantain. That was delicious in itself, but to make it even better, our dessert was a White Chocolate Gateaux bridal shower cake from Caffe Concerto. We saved the topper “From Miss… to Mrs” for the bride to take home with her. The bride and all her guests had a blast at the shower, which made cookie cutting of watermelons and DIY flower arranging worth it in the end. “
Enjoy and be inspired! xoxo
