View Nominees for Nigerian Blog Awards 2013 & Vote For Your Favourite Blogs
The Nigerian Blog Awards, established in 2010 to recognize bloggers of Nigerian heritage or bloggers who write about Nigeria, is pleased to announce the nominees in the 2013 edition of its online Awards event.
As in previous years, bloggers and their fans were encouraged to submit blogs for nomination in 29 categories during the three-week period of September 23 to October 13, 2013 using an online form on nigerianblogawards.com. The blogs receiving the largest number of nominations in each category were further scrutinized to ensure they met established criteria for nationality of the blogger or focus of the blog, minimum age of the blog, date of the most recent post, status of the blog (public or private), and most importantly to ensure the content of the blog matched the given description for each category. If any of these criteria were not met for a blog that received a large number of nominations, a blog receiving fewer nominations was considered in its place.
Over 8,500 complete nomination forms were reviewed and sorted to reveal the top nominated blogs in each category.
Voting opened on November 11, 2013 and will remain open for a four-week period, until December 8, 2013 at 11:59pm EST, and the voting form can be accessed at http://nigerianblogawards.com/vote2013.php. The blogs receiving the largest number of votes will be named the Popular Vote winner for each category. In addition a small panel of judges made up of past and present bloggers, writers, and blog readers will be asked to review the nominated blogs and select their winners. The blogs resulting from this exercise will be labeled the Judges’ Choice winners, meaning that a total of 58 winners (two per category) will be announced. Since this is an online event, winners will be announced during a Twitter Awards Show on Sunday, December 15, 2013, beginning at 4:00pm EST (the Twitter handle for the Awards is @naijablogawards).
The 2013 Nigerian Blog Awards mark the last time the Awards will have this structure—in 2014 only one winner will be announced per category and winners will be announced offline, during a live event being planned to take place in Lagos.
