“Chibok girls are very ill”: Boko Haram Hostage Negotiator

200+ Chibok Girls - May 2014 - 02

Some of the over 200 abducted Chibok school girls are currently very ill, according to Stephen Davis, an Australian cleric hired by President Goodluck Jonathan to serve as a hostage negotiator.

“One of that small group of girls is ill and we had hoped we might convince the commander of the group holding her that she should be released so we could give her medical treatment.

There are other girls who are not well and we have come close to having them released but their captors fear a trap in which they will be captured in the handover process.

One girl has what I assume is a broken wrist as they demonstrate to me how she holds her hand. I have been told that others are sick and in need of medical attention.

But I am encouraged by the progress. Every day there is the possibility of the release of the girls.

This is painful for the parents and the nation. The well-being of the girls is constantly on our minds and we want to see their release as soon as possible,” he said.

Davis has ruled out the possibility of the girls being rescued, Punch reports. According to him, the girls are not in one location, but are scattered in groups in several camps across the Nigerian border in Chad, Niger and Cameroon. He explained that to try to rescue one group would endanger the lives of the others.

In addition to working on the Chibok case, Davis has worked with Nigeria previously. He was reportedly responsible for brokering a truce between the Federal Government and Niger Delta militants in 2004

This is sooooooo sad. I don’t know what to say. I hope the negotiations are successful. I cannot imagine what their parents/ families are going through.

There was once a time I came to bella Naija website for light, carefree, feel good news and I was always assured of it. I discovered this site only two years ago mind you. But nowadays the situation in Naija has deteriorated to the point that the BN front page is now looking like national newspapers. I m not blaming anyone, just my observation that the bad news coming from Naija/ Africa is really something else these days.

You can’t ignore it, infact you shouldn’t ignore it. Kudos to the BN team for their social consciousness but I must say I am starting to feel depressed for my country Naija. God help us all

I pray the government has realised now how important border protection is. Since this thing started we’ve not heard from Niger, Chad or Cameroon except for the unconvincing crap they tried to feed us at that conference or whatever in France a few weeks ago.

How on earth do they think those girls would be healthy. If the President or any of the honourable or Senators daughter where among those girls they would have been released.
Massage to our leaders. you guys will pay someday with your blood for every pain we have gone through in this Country that so blessed.
Imagine one man leaving in mansions worth our bloods while our sisters are perishing in the hands of there sponsored game. Hmmmmm Nigerians shine your eyes!!!!
