“The shoot is known for celebrating successful african women” so annie idibia is a successful african woman because she is the wife of a nigerian legend, 2face. Okay oh. This article didn’t mention any of annie’s achievement(s) but mentioned she’s the wife to 2face.

@folake, u are missing my point, women should stop reducing themselves to position of “somebody’s wife” stop walking in ur husband’s shadow, try to create ur own lane, and achievements. Being a wife is not an achievement, whether u are married to bill gates or p diddy. Stop reducing ur self to the title of ‘ wife”, “that man’s wife. Its weak.example Mariah carey will be called a grammy winner, and a strong vocalist first and lastly she will be called a wife to nick cannon, unlike kim kardashian who will be only called a wife to kanye west because she has zero achievements or even amber rose who was known for being the wife to wiz khalifah.

Everything is not about hating. All these pictures are just ridiculous. But then as Bruno mentioned, how can you be content with just being someones wife. So if you did not marry that person your life would be worthless? impact-less?

So many ways to make a mark. volunteer, teach. do something and define who you are. In death if the only things that could be said about me are “she was a good wife and a good mother” then I know i left this world a failure.

@ Bruno ….while i do get your point.. you can like to stop bringing people down.. your beef with Kim is rather deep and by the way, you are wrong about how she will be described.. you can see for yourself :

“Kimberly “Kim” Kardashian West , American television and social media personality, socialite, fashion designer, businesswoman, model, and actress”

@uche, you forgot to add pornstar, let’s not forget she got married for 72 days.

What have you achieved so far Bruno? Stop criticising people who can have their names written at every corner of life already. Mbok being a lil nice won’t kill you, try it ok?

@uche & free mind, what does this article have to do with kim k? For real ? Lol!!! Also Bruno is entitled to not caring for the likes of Kim Katrashian. And yeah, there are still some of us non bandwagon members left, believe it or not. No “beef” about that just a difference of opinion. About the actual topic, I get the celebration of African fashion but not sure on them choosing Annie .as an all round representative of the theme.

Ask me what i like about this article. Just the definition of fashion: . . . been comfortable in what you wear.
    Nice couple, Annie & Tubaba.

I wonder why people beef Kim Kardashian. They say if not for the sex tape, she wouldn’t have been famous. truth be told she is just one in zillions. Be for Jayne marriedher , she has been famous.

The magazine should protray the impact of successful African woman, who would inspire other women out there by giving an in sight to her work, who work their way up, Self built, not celebrating being married to a Star, in Annie circumstances she was chosen to be the wife of a star. Definitely not a role model for younger women out there. She got the ring with a lot of baggages u might not be lucky. Celebrate the likes of women like Maki Oh, Lisa Folawiyo, Genevieve and many more.

Annie Idibia is a very pretty woman, but for some reason she never gets it right.

I don’t see anything wrong in referring to a woman as somebody’s wife if in fact that is what she is. It doesn’t diminish her self worth, abilities or achievements in my opinion. Nigeria is still quite patriarchal so we shouldn’t be so offended when married women are called Mrs. X or Mrs. Y. We will get “there” eventually – if such a place truly exists.

    • NaijaPikin

      October 10, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Well in this instance where she is described as someone’s wife and none of her abilities or achievements are mentioned, it does diminish her. This is not a wife magazine, so being a wife isn’t what should stand out.

When introducing a preacher, a business man, blah blah, you never see/hear the introduction start with he is a husband. It is always about relevant accomplishments highlighted first and then family added at the end.

I’ve noticed that a lot of commentators on Bellanaija are quick to pick on a person’s marital status (esp married women). Its almost a crime for it to be mentioned that a person is married and within two second the titans rise with the ” How dare they call her married?! Is that all she’s about? Is that her identity?” Its tiring honestly! What you’ve read is an excerpt of the interview and I didn’t see any mention of her being a “wife” in it, so I still don’t get. We should all look within and deal with whatever it is that gets us so vexed about the tile of “wife” and resolve it INTERNALLY. It’s not that serious! Haba!

Annie Is very, very successful. It is not easy Na. She won the baby mama competition and bagged the wife ring. A beg people take am easy those other baby mamas would loan their wombs out to tufACE just for the oport unity of calling themselves wives. At present Na only Annie fit claim that position in naija terms that is a very big accomplishment. Abi una no see mama patience that one has even being upgraded to Saint+ dame status.
