Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun has declared Monday, October 27th, as a public holiday to mark Islamic New Year (Hijrah 1436).

Adelowo Adewumi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties, disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo on Tuesday.

The statement states: “The public holiday is to allow Muslim faithful to fully observe the celebration of the Islamic new year.

“The public holiday is in line with the policy thrust of the present administration which provides equal platforms for all religions to promote communal peace and progress.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) was established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in May 1976 to gather and distribute news on Nigeria and cover events of interest to Nigeria at the international level for the benefit of the Nigerian Media and the Public.

    Is Oshun now a muslim state. YOu people should really screen people before you elect them. this is how Yerima the pedophile started. It was amusing in the beginning, now here we are BH and other nut jobs running around the place
