Miss Honduras Beauty Queen Found Dead Just 1 Day Before Miss World Pageant

Miss Honduras, Maria Jose Alvarado, 19, and her sister, 23-year-old Sofia Trinidad, were found dead today after being declared missing last Thursday.

Alvarado was supposed to represent her country in the Miss World 2014 pageant in London, which commences on November 20th and ends with the grand final on December 14th.

The pair were last seen leaving a party in the Santa Barbera area, in a car without a licence plate, Guardian reports. Their bodies were found in Cablotales village, near the River Aguagua.

Police authorities are questioning Trinidad’s boyfriend, Plutarco Ruiz, and four others over the disappearance.

Honduras reportedly has one of the world’s highest homicide rates, with 90.4 people murdered per 100,000 of the population.
