Eliminations, Training, Inspiration from Lola Omotayo-Okoye, Eku Edewor & More! Highlights from Kinabuti & Pulse NG’s ‘Dare2Dream’ Boot Camp

The Dare2Dream Project created by fashion house Kinabuti and Pulse NG is still on and contestants have been hard at work at the boot camp.

See all the highlights from their fun activities as they visited the Floating School at Makoko, Lagos; the FCMB Headquarters and more spots in Lagos.

Day 14
It was indeed an eventful day full of activities. In the morning the girls had homework to do, presentation exercises, role playing, practicing their walk and dancing – practice and hard work are key at Dare2Dream. SPAN – Society of Performing Art of Nigeria kept on practicing with the girls MOB and gave their votes on their performance, based on which the jurors will be making their final assessment on who should be leaving the D2D Project.

Model, Nneka Edozien practiced poses and walking with the girls for a photoshoot on that day.

The girls were assessed by the trainers and on Day 15 were to be screened by guest judges: Lola Omotayo-Okoye and Kemi Amushan (Fashion correspondent for the guardian)

Who will be the six to be eliminated ?

Day 15
The girls met Lola and Kemi who shared their personal stories with them. Lola Omotayo-Okoye spoke to them on not allowing their past determine their future, how she grew into a strong woman, full of love and how education became important to her and all these made her who she is today.

Kemi Amushan – a fashion correspondent for the Guardian – shared her stories and how her poliomyelitis didn’t stop her from achieving her dreams. She looks at people who have both legs and realizes they often don’t have what she has. She has being dreams and will achieve all of them.

Kemi and Lola were also judges in the elimination process that saw 6 girls leave the Dare2Dream project. A lot of tears were shed and now 12 have moved to the next level.

In the afternoon the 12 girls met Yetunde from Pulse.ng for a training on social media. Every girl was given a Lenovo tablet and mentored on how to use social media to create and build their brand.

The girls then returned to continue their practicing in dancing, walking, posing and becoming active on social media.

Day 16
This was the FCMB challenge part 2 with Eku Edewor and Basallana from MAC Cosmetics. Excitement hit the building as Eku Edewor stepped in to mentor the girls and share her own experiences. Eku congratulated them for the life experience they are having and recommended them to get experiences in life because experiences broaden our spectrum, our horizon and make us who we are.

The 12 participants could not help but ask the TV presenter questions about life, career and personal issues.

It was then Basallana’s turn to speak to the girls, and her story was moving and entertaining. Born from a single parent with 6 siblings, life was not easy for the Ivory Coast native and as a makeup artists who also grew up in north of France. Being different and not being accepted for the colour of her skin, she taught the girls to accept challenges as an opportunity to grow and become stronger. She also spoke on how important it is to have dreams and that if you share your dreams you will make them happen.

The FCMB Challenge part 2 continued with an assignment for the girls who will make it to the end and will have to address 400 guests today, Wednesday 19th November 2014 at the Federal Palace Hotel. It won’t be an easy one.

The Dare2Dream team left the FCMB HQ and continued to Orile for the Day 1 of the photo shoot under the direction of Marcello Pastonesi and the backstage filming of the Creative Incubator – A initiative where the young kids from Makoko and Orile who Dare2Dream with the Richard Cocker Foundation are training in cinematography.

It was amazing to see so many talents, with the models and the videographers.

Day 17
Day 17 saw the FCMB challenge part 3 with Toke Makinwa & Yolanda Pepper Chikezie from Spice TV. It was amazing hearing these 3 professional individuals in the entertainment industry share their amazing stories, and how they became pillars in their own sectors.

Toke said “there is nothing like opportunity given, I will go and find my own opportunities“. Pepper added – “I grew up in a council estate and there is no role model, I had to find my role model on the outside“.

The Session ended with the elimination of 2 contestants by the jurors and inspirational speakers.

The Dare2Dream team left FCMB HQ and continued to Makoko for the Day 2 of the photo shoot under the direction of Marcello Pastonesi and the backstage filming of the Creative Incubator  – A initiative where the young kids from Makoko and Orile who Dare2Dream with the Richard Cocker Foundation are training in cinematography.

Day 18
The day started with the performance by the contestants of the Flash Mob and then choreography and training by SPAN (Society of Performing Arts of Nigeria) at Cool FM, The palms, Falomo and in Tinkan Island. It was amazing and the energy was great.

There was also the last day of their photo shoot in Grimaldi port in Tinkan Island with Makeup up by MAC.

Day 19
Dare2Dream surprised the girls with a treat – Get Arena racing before elimination 4 candidates.

Day 20
This day saw more interviews for the participants at Cool FM and Wazobia FM, and a MOB at WE TV. Meanwhile, the team was casting for the professional female and male model for the grand Finale!

Celebrities, personalities, corporate world professionals and more will be present at what promises to be the hottest event of the Year.
