Silly Youths indeed! They’ve left the point she trying to make and started talking about sexy. SMH! Unintelligent bunch.

As in… the thing dey pain me die. Truly intelligent discuss is becoming a thing of the past among us Nigerians. People are unnecessarily aggressive on social media. Will not listen to the message because they’re busy judging the messenger. Just like Ben Bruce made some good points on twitter that if looked into will better us all and one guy was feeling smart and asked him why he didn’t make NTA into DSTV when he was DG. Now he wants to talk. No matter the explanations people gave and clarifications he just kept saying how NTA is better funded and has better staff, bla bla bla. I was just weak.

Trekkers club, abeg we should be more creative in bringing awareness to our current situations than claiming to do what we can’t even try in our dreams. #nobodytrekgoanywhereatall

this is the same thing i said some few days ago.

omotola leave them to their stupidity. they are trekking to congratulate a criminal who will enter office and steal our money in bulk and make matters worse for we nigerians.

assuming they are trekking to raise hiv awareness or to protest the very poor power supply we are receiving in nigeria or the level of unemployment in nigeria, that would have been a different case. but no, they are trekking to congratulate a criminal who probably won his election via rigging (sipping tea )

I am afraid of nigerians cause the level of stupidity in an average nigerian is astounding.

I was just having a discussion this week about what was the essence of people trekking, because I absolutely saw no value in it especially with every Tom, Dick & Harry now saying that they were trekking for a naija politician that doesn’t give a flying rats ass about your wellbeing.
Naija is such a monkey see, monkey do society it ain’t even funny..

You are forgetting that this is a country that does not hold meaningful conversations. Rubbish. Buhari need to take all the trekkers to farms or coal mines so the can use there trekking energy there. Mumus.

Honestly, the whole things seems Pure Madness. Few days ago, a woman was said to be trekking to Abuja with a little baby. I think she ought to have been arrested. The pple in authority should please do something about this.

It’s because they don’t have jobs or school to attend, and they’re not enlightened. If they had jobs, they wouldn’t be able to trek because they would have to be at work. If they were in school, they wouldn’t be able to trek because they would have to be in lecture, and if they were enlightened they wouldn’t be able to trek because they would be too busy job hunting. So we can’t blame them…

    • facepalm

      May 14, 2015 at 3:26 pm

Maybe, just maybe you should stop thinking people who don’t have jobs or school. are unfulfilled. Life doesn’t always have to be about subsistence. Sometimes, do meaningless but fun stuff.

As you have a job (or a degree to pursue), we are happy for you. Uche onise.. dakun face ya work.

one person started this trend, and was received by the president -elect GMB, and before we knew, a lot of peeps have started trekking from one place to another to congratulate the politicians. Omotola has a point. we can’t boost of steady supply of electricity in the country, the youths can’t get jobs, roads are so bad, health sector is lame, educational sector, worse, you spend money to buy fuel to put in your generator just to charge your phone. if the youths can come together and trek from lagos to abuja in a peaceful protest for any of the above mentioned, am sure something positive will result from it. you’all are trekking to congratulate the politicians who can’t wait to mount the seat and start diverting the public funds into their private foreign accounts. it’s ok, God is watching you all.

Let’s think about this thing for once, ‘WHAT ARE THEY REALLY TREKKING FOR’. Omo-T is very right, we are our very own problem. How many youths have come out and trek against unemployment, bad roads, power, the list goes on. This is big time foolishness

Everyone entitled to their opinion and choice of action. It is a free world hurray!. We all cant be advocates of ‘acceptable’ causes. Some must be serious, some funny, some crazy, some resourceful, some sexy, some …?? It’s a beautifully diverse world and we are privileged people.

Exactly. I am in the minority on this but I have no qualms with them trekking. Why call them silly simply because you don’t approve of it. She can very well go trek for any of the causes she believes in. Where was her voice during the elections or during the #bringbackourgirls campaign?

  24. chiclero

    May 14, 2015 at 4:13 pm

I agree with Omo-T, really silly youths
Many of our peers were killed during the immigration saga, nobody trekked. No one has trekked with their CVs or work tools to meet the Govt for jobs/help. Nobody has trekked with lantern or candle to protest poor power supply. Or even to raise awareness for malaria.
The trekkers to me are doing it for financial gains from the politicians.
I trekked from my room to the sitting room to watch TV when GMB won. Dat one sef don do.

At least this -the trekking – shows some engagement with the system. This engagement and a willingness to act on it might in time grow into an energy that contributes to forcing significant change. All these people trekking are making a personal investment, when people are personally invested, I think it is more likely that they will hold our leaders to account. If 100,000 people trek today to celebrate Buhari’s victory and he and his Government don’t keep their promises to them, those 100,000 disgruntled people who are truly personally invested can all of a sudden become a big problem if they decide to start to march or protest for very different reasons.

I’m not in Nigeria, but I assume these trekkers are reasonably well known at least in their local government areas,, once the trekking is done in two, three years time they could be quite influential in mobilising people to hold the very people they have trekked for to account.

Follow-follow will kill Nigerians, so just because one person did it and got received by the pres- elect, others have followed suit. I can’t blame them because as nwanaija said, it’s poverty they are trying to escape from by being sponsored by our politicians, so I can’t blame their hustle, but Omotola is very correct. But either way, all treckers can go and rest because it really won’t solve their poverty problem in the long run.

@OmoSexy. You miss the point about the trekking trend. It is not about the immediate pecuniary gains but more of a spiritual revival. I don’t know what you believe in but I hazard that these trekkers not being gifted in eloquence have resorted to physical exertions to draw attention to the plight of Nigeria and Nigerians. You are on a high horse and have set your sights high indeed. You need to lower your gaze to to appreciate the dialectics of the trekking trend. As for being silly, you over reached yourself by this invective. So on planet Omotola. what you don’t understand becomes silly. Please apologize to these people. At least they are not known gold diggers among them.
