Shocking Video Surfaces of Florida State University Quarterback De’Andre Johnson Punching a Woman in the Face
A shocking video of Florida State University quarterback De’Andre Johnson punching a woman in the face at a bar has surfaced and it is causing quite the controversy.
Even though the incident occurred a month ago, the surveillance footage has just been released.
The 19-year-old Florida State University freshman quarterback actually turned himself in at the Leon County Jail on June 30 after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with misdemeanor battery after State Attorney Willie Meggs viewed the footage from the West Tennessee Street bar on June 24.
Watch the clip below.
Court records state that:
The incident occurred while the woman was waiting in line for a drink at Yianni’s nightclub and felt Johnson push past her aggressively. When she addressed him at the bar, she raised her arm to defend herself, and he grabbed her arm and began pushing her. She raised her knee into his midsection to push him away and attempted to punch him, court records say, before Johnson punched her on the left side of her face. The woman suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose. De’Andre Johnson left the bar after the incident and the woman remained.
A statement from De’Andre Johnson’s attorney Jose Baez said his client was “extremely embarrassed” and was participating in community service and faith-based programs that focus on battered women.
