Inferiority complex. Stop seeking validation and face the matter. Millions of Africans and blacks in diaspora have been dancing to ojuelegba. Where is their aticle????

Are these millions you refer to all famous? or do they all have millions of followers on social media platforms that may trying to figure out the name of the song she’s dancing to? Do you think if Bonang Matheba posted a video of herself dancing to a Nigerian song no one would report it simply because she is black? (which Alicia Keys and her husband are by the way).
The lesson here? You can calm down, this is not one of the instances where concerns about inferiority complex is necessarily available.

oga get out of here! Since you know nothing, let me tell you something. For a musician, getting recognition from influential artists is a big deal. It represents opportunity- to sell more music, to get collaborations etc. Just because you know and dance to Wizkid does that mean every tom, dick and harry out there know him? How many times have you bought his music? No be you download am for free on youtube and distribute to your friends? Alicia Keys, Swizz Beats and Kylie Jenner have millions of followers who now know who Wizkid is. If you are a garri seller, will your sells not improve if other villages flock to your stand to buy garri? People like you are a problem in society. Killing somebody´s hustle for no reason. Talk about enemies of progress.

Sooooooo pretty much the way we dance to music by Kanye West or Jay Z? I get that we want to celebrate this song but it also reeks of seeking validation from other people. We all know it’s a great song. Kylie Jenner dancing to it doesn’t make it more special.

    AWESOME
Record companies in Africa should start doing their business like labels in America do theirs.
A Record comp. can set up a contest online for new artists to send a 20 or 30 minutes video demo containing songs which they wrote themselves to a certain email within a given period of time. The label, then set up a panel to screen all the demos to pick the best 20 or 30 who will be screened physically to choose the ones that they are gonna sign. In the contracts, the label will state clearly that the artists will b screened after a year to know if they can continue under the label.
MEANING: Any artist that fails to make enough cash or popular international music within 365 days will be dropped. Also, the car, house and other possessions given to the artist will be taken back.
This pressure will make the artists to work extra hard. So, the label makes so much money within a year and talented new artists gets to be signed. There is no new/hustling artists given this kind of ultimatum that won’t work his or her butts off to make good music.
Hustling artist makes money and record companies makes so much money as well. So. its a WIN-WIN. Written by ESTHER DANIEL.

If Obama wants, he should have your song in his playlist. We know you here, all your songs sound the same these days, with hardly any meaning !! Don’t forget that.

OMG I’m tired of this Ojuelegba international hype. Those claiming to be dancing to the track dont even know what it means. We Nigerians love the song cos we can relate to it but them I don’t think so. It’s just a way of trying to promote d track so the record label will beg or pay dem to do dt. These stars dance everyday so why do they have to record this one and put it on net for people to see. Abeg Nigerians are becoming smarter n wiser than they think. Wizkid has better focus on giving us good singles like he always does and leave dt international recognition thing because it will get him nowhere. Dbanj has tried to break in and is still trying up till date but these pple will always see us as second class compared to them

Wow. It is obvious you do not know much about music and how it can be enjoyed whether one understands the language or not. Try read and learn more to broaden your knowledge because you seem not to have much of it in this regard.

      August 25, 2015 at 4:57 pm

Goodness! The conspiracy theories are plenty. Calm down!!! Some things are simply what they seem – in this case people enjoying a good song?

      1) How do you know that these people are not sharing videos of themselves dancing to other songs? Or do you expect BN to share a video of a US celeb dancing to a K-Pop song if that happens? Unless you follow Alicia Keys, and this child on social media and can categorically state that they never ever share other dancing videos cancel this point.

      2) As far as relating to music, do you remember a time when Awilo and Magic System ruled Nigerian airwaves? Did we know what they were saying? The point? Appreciating and enjoying music we don’t understand and cannot relate to is hardly unprecedented. Aren’t there still Nigerian rapping about “the projects” and other things that have NO local meaning?

I DO NOT like reading about the Kardashians, and I wish I could filter them out of my news feed and not hear about every petty thing they do but that doesn’t change the fact that millions of other people around the world are fans. Unfortunately, that fact makes their actions newsworthy.

Sorry, you cant just wish away the attention newmakers are paying to Ojuelegba. One thing you can do is pray that more celebrities dont jump on it. But will God answer ur prayer?

Ok I’m out of here! Some Nigerians are incurably negative. Don’t you see if this trend continues our Nigerian artists could potentially be trend setters in the international music scene thereby opening up oppurtunities for our local artists? Pls wake up and smell the coffee anything trending online is totally news worthy!!! This is why some people will always be poor no matter how much they pray! They can never see the good oppurtunity in a thing. Please forgive my rant I’m totally pissed!

I think this has all to do with marketing to the intentional market. There is notting wrong in aspiring to greater heights. I think it’s an innovative approach to using social media to market to the international market and there is no shame in riding the waves of these mega stars Advertisers do it all the time- using big names to sell their brand, it’s marketing, fuck everyone does it , fame by association is not a new concept . If I got something to sell to Jupiter ill sure as hell use a well known mega box Jupiter personality to help me break into that market. Social media is a great cheap way of self promotion. Is this news worthy? Depends on how you interpret it. For me it is an insight into wiz kids plans of making his music recognised and enjoyed by many world wide. And to that I say Kudos wiz kid . May the God Lord hear your prayers and bless your hussle.
