The All-Star 2Face Idibia FORTYfied Concert was everything we thought it would be and so much more.

It was a celebration of a living legend, 2Face Idibia, as he marked his 40th birthday while also highlighting his achievements thus far.

The magical night held on Sunday, 20th of September, 2015 at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. Things officially kicked off around 9 PM and we were still having fun when the event wrapped up around 2 AM.

There was even an after-party for the industry’s biggest stars the same night morning.

While we’d love to talk about all the fun moments from the show, there are particular aspects that stood out in everyone’s memory. Even though it has been almost 48 hours after the event, here are the 6 things we can’t stop talking about from the all-star 2Face FORTYfied Concert.

Annie Idibia

Yes, we’ve talked about Annie Idibia’s outfit to the event before (click here if you missed it) but the Nollywood actress’ outfit remains one of the most talked about aspects of the show on social media.

The mother of 2 showed off her curves in this beautiful floor-length dress as she supported her husband at his historic night.

A couple of times our BN cam caught Annie almost about to tear up as musician after musician came on stage to say nothing but good things about her husband. A number of them also commended Annie while talking about her patience as well as her understanding and forgiving heart.

It was definitely an emotional night for the couple.

EVERYONE Spoke about 2Face Idibia’s Humility

Some of 2Face Idibia’s friends and colleagues were given a chance to “roast” the music star.

In between the roasts from Bovi, Sound Sultan, Basketmouth and more, one thing that was constant was a reference to 2Face’s humility.

2Face Idibia

2Face Idibia

The roast gave people an opportunity to laugh and was a lovely infusion of comedy into the night but the fact that 2Face Idibia has always been a humble man who started from humble beginnings was not lost on us.

We can’t forget the fact that everyone who came on stage had a good word to say about 2Face.

Most people especially shared how he helped them at the beginning of their careers by giving them an opportunity when no one else would.

A Blast from the Past with 2Face’s Songs

One of the things to expect from a 2Face concert should be 2Face songs, right? Right!

We were blown away with the amazing renditions of some of 2Face Idibia’s biggest hit songs from other Nigerian acts.

Cobhams, Dammy Krane, Timi Dakolo, Vector, Efa, Gloria Ibru, D’banj, Darey Art Alade, Zaina, 9ice, Banky W and so many more took to the stage to perform songs like ‘African Queen’, ‘Ole’, ‘Nfana Ibaga’, ‘Implication’ and more.

D’banj Found his Harmonica + A Possible Collaboration with Don Jazzy?

When was the last time you saw D’banj whip out his famous harmonica from the Mo Hits days?

Well, we saw him use the harmonica at the 2Face FORTYfied Concert and it was a nice blast from the past. The Koleyewon crooner performed a couple of songs as well as an unreleased song he had with 2Face back in the day.

2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0023 2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0022 2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0025

While some people on Twitter mentioned that D’banj was making A LOT of reference to Don Jazzy, we couldn’t help but wonder if he was hinting at a future collaboration between the two of them.

To make things even more interesting 2Face publicly begged announced that he’d love to see one more collaboration between Don Jazzy and D’banj. The screams from the audience was proof enough that they agreed.

So we’d be keeping our fingers crossed.

Basketmouth Couldn’t Stop Talking His Show (October 4th)

All in all it was a wonderful night, hosted by comedian Basketmouth.

Speaking of Basketmouth, the comedian who has a show coming up on the 4th of October (click here if you missed it) couldn’t stop promoting his show.

2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0008 2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0009 2Face-Idibia-FORTYfied-Concert-September-2015-BellaNaija0019

Basketmouth used every opportunity to talk about his show on Sunday night and while on stage he got Ali Baba to talk about it. 2Face also spoke about the show and Basketmouth got D’banj to promise him a free performance.

***

2Face took to the stage at the end of the concert and brought the house down with some of his best songs. We heard songs from ‘Grass to Grace’, ‘Ascension’ and many more albums.

It was a spectacular evening.

2face, this is well deserved honor. He took Afro beats to another level for younger generation and remained humble. Looks like a really fun event. I understand, Darey is married but that’s a really FINE brotha. He can sing too and all soulful.

it was truly a Great show, my highlights were the roast, and basket mouth, sound sultan and even M.I had everyone rolling, another great moment was cobhams rendition of Tufaces, song, such a talented artist. Also hearing the great things everyone had to say about Tuface was great, he is truly the greatest nigerian musician of his generation and so humble too. heres to many more years for him and this only being the beginning of greater things to come…

Humility is attractive no matter how you look at it. (God help your child.) Tuface came to my office to see a senior friend of his who happened to be a snr coll. of mine about 8years ago. i just could not believe his humility… i remember i was forming for my colleagues that i would not go and see any star (he was in the next open office from mine) because they too pose bla bla bla and really i was not that interested… but i sha did like i was passing by ust to catch a glimpse of him flesh and blood (make i no carry last) … it was him that greeted me first “Aunty God afternoon welldone literally bowing” i am not even 40 yet. (so he is older) i was shocked i almost hugged him…. loool. I kukuma just stayed there and went with everyone else laughing and gisting with him and hyping him. He is a great guy and deserves all the accolade he gets. Congratulations Innocent.

My innocent observation from the fortified show which made me stay up late resulting in me having a horrible day at work as I didn’t have enough rest:
1.tuface was extremely high as he kept shouting and responding to everything anyone said.
2.i didn’t realy like annies dress, maybe because of the overly exposed cleavage.
3.dbanj was literally begging don jazzy for a come back but from don jazzy’s body language, one could deduce that he was done with koko master.
4.choi! I enjoyed how sound sultan, bovi and mi teased themselves
5 eemmmm grand ma ita-giwa!! Okay
6 basketmouth kept promoting his show,at some point It was just annoying to me as he was over doing the whole thing and distracting everyone with his Oct 4 show.
7 I loved how everyone had something genuinely beautiful to say about Tuface.
8.i enjoyed watching and wished I wa inn lagos f the show.
NGWA BYE!!! Do not mind my typos
