This list looks alot more balanced and unbiased unlike last years! SMH My only fear is that the truely talented will be overrun by the more popular! I wish them the best sha.

So it is okay for Omoni Oboli’s “The first lady” and Daniel’s “Taxi driver oko ashewo” to be nominated even though they also didn’t meet the nomination deadline, but not Genevieve Nnaji’s “Road to Yesterday”? Mtcheew… Talk about double standards. Ona heart attack never start on top Genny matter, keep beefing her… Congrats to Genevieve and Stephanie, let’s go get ’em

December 12, 2015 at 5:13 am
When she said her movie was glowing to blow minds on twitter I thought she was sounding cliche but d movie really shocked to its extent of captivity. road to yesterday is an excellent film. I’m voting for genevieve as best actress and the new director Ishaya Bako deserves credit

Now watch Genevieve try to act nice and throw her nasty attitude away just so people can vote for her for AMVCA. Very soon she’ll start seeking for votes via social media like she did in the past. The same way you lost to Jackie Appiah in 2013, will most likely happen in 2016. A nasty attitude will not take one far in life. The people you look down on, with the help of God made you who you are today. Change your ways, that’s why your small business, (fashion line) has been an epic fail. No one will patronize you with your pesky attitude.
Having said that, Nse is a fantastic actress, I hope she takes the award like she did in 2014. Also, I hope either Akin Omotosho or Stephanie Linus’ movie takes the award for movie of the year; well done guys.

The St. Genevieve clothing line is almost sold out at Jumia. Just about six pieces left in just one size. As always, I am sure Genevieve is grateful for your support. And from her last interview, she’s already preparing to release the next collection.
Congratulations on Genevieve on your nominations and for having the biggest opening week of any film in 2015 as confirmed by Filmhouse Cinemas. Slay them superstar, Slay them
Yeye!
December 12, 2015 at 2:48 am
Lol! Apparently Genevieve’s team has Google alert and have been paid per post to slay. It beats me how anyone would know how many pieces of items of that defunct clothesline is left. Instead of you to take the message to your boss that she should change her attitude, you’re busy forming voltron and causing people to dislike her even more. Make una change strategy and begin to beg fans.
linda
December 12, 2015 at 5:46 am
@Yeye! How can one know how many pieces are left? Simply click on the link to the jumia online store and the number of remaining pieces will be listed. It’s that simple. Anybody can do it. You don’t have to be an insider. And having bought pieces when it was launched last year, I can see that most of her items are sold out. The dresses, pants, skirts, and most of the tops are all sold out.
linda
December 12, 2015 at 12:03 am
And here’s a link to purchase the last six pieces before they are completely sold out. jumia.com.ng/st-genevieve/ Happy Shopping..

Belema, I know right. The first AMVCA she was confident she’ll win, and even Veronica, her stylist at the time said she got 2 outfits cause she thought she’ll win.
Anyway, we all know she lost to Jackie. Truth it, it’s very hard for her to win when it’s viewer’s choice.
Linda, welcome. I’m convinced you’re from Genevieve’s camp, all the posts on BN associated with Genevieve, you’re always ready to leave multiple lengthy comments. I hope you’re paid well for this. You have time.

How is Being Mrs Elliott made the list for 2016 nominations ? For me, there are no outstanding movies on the list to be excited about, unlike last year. I look forward to 2017 nominations when films such as Kunle Afolayan’s The CEO, Izu Ojukwu’s 76 and Biyi Bandele’s film , FIFTY are likely to slug it out !

I agree. And although I’m Nigerian, I’m tired of seeing just Nigerian, Ghanaian and South African names. We need more people from the East, and other Western and Southern African countries. It has be to leveled, so to speak. The first AMVCA was more balanced.

December 12, 2015 at 2:33 am
@Eriviv Here we go again accusing people of being in camps. I am stationed on Genevieve Nnaji’s posts because I’m a die hard fan who is tired of all the hatred people spew at her on bella naija. Direct your concerns to the AMVCA’s. While you are at it, do ask why Taxi Driver has also been nominated since it was just released in October. Also ask why Shirley Frimpong Manso has been nominated for Rebecca when it is due for release in January. You skipped these two movies but managed to bring up Road to Yesterday, abi? Could it be that you are simply confused about the requirements of the AMVCA’s. There are private screenings and public screenings. Perhaps, Taxi Driver, Rebecca and Road to Yesterday were screened privately to the jurors?

I am with you! a lot of people are unnecessarily biased, unrealistic and negative on here and it’s so annoying! it’s refreshing to see your comments, God bless you jor

December 12, 2015 at 10:09 am
If you are a die hard fan then you should be able to take criticisms too directed towards her. Everybody gets critized here..Genny even has it a bit better here..What will you say of Ini Edo, Rukky Sanda, Stella etc? Its part of being in the spotlight and then the whole scandal of being rude to peers didnt help matters…..
I struggle to take african awards seriously and this is not an exception. It just happens to be more glamorous. Why is the award open to public votes to start with? I think thats complete nonsense.
Ill look out for Road to Yesterday when its out. The review has been quite mixed (i mean from critics and few i know who have seen it, and in a way i found that intriguing.).
smallie
December 12, 2015 at 3:14 pm
If the criticism had been a constructive one, I am sure Linda wouldn’t have responded to the critic. Moreover, don’t you stand in defense of Omotola when you feel she is wrongly criticized? Please be realistic jawe. Before, you all thought Genny wasn’t working, all because she wasn’t showing her businesses on sociamedia, often times you see her travel and not think it could be business related(which always is), but you tag her as a globetrotter, then she hit you all with “Road to Yesterday” and you still have shit to say about her. Fact is, these people just never want to see her do good. Imagine someone above or below even had to quote the reason stated by Genny’s stylist as to why she had to wear two dresses at the 2013amvcas, just to stupidly crucify her. How is his/her point relevant to the topic at hand? S/he is even stalking the people around Genny just to monitor her progress, with the hope that she doesn’t do well. The observers are not raising alarm on the nominations received by The Visit (released in Nigerian cinemas on Oct 16), The first lady also released in cinemas in Oct and Taxi driver which was also released in November, but they have a problem with Road to Yesterday’s nominations simply because it’s from GENEVIEVE NNAJI, the strong independent woman who they never want to see do well…how fair! And the funniest part of this Genny is rude noise is that her fans are soo over the ish. We ain’t complaining anymore, and we still love her, but you people that ain’t even her fans are still on it, and have refused to move on. Please o all you anti-Genny fanclub should relax. After all you don’t like her, so you have nothing to lose. Please let we Genny FANILY and ACs bother about her rudeness which you claim she has. Congrats once more my love ??.. Thanks!

@ Linda whaoo U are still going on? Well I have heard from those that have seeing her one on one or face to face that’s she’s very rude and look down on folks. I can’t tell cuz I don’t follow her on nothing on social media of such. Nevertheless, sometimes I sense she isn’t too humble & act like she’s better than a lot of them.
Linda dear calm down for it ain’t too deep. Like some one said earlier how did her movie make it on d list when it just came out? So let every voice their opinion on how they feel for we know U’re a die hard fan although u sound like a PA right about now. Oh BTW, theres nothing unique with her clothing line. Same old items that CaME out yes ago by other designers. Congrats to U & her all d same.

December 12, 2015 at 4:06 pm
@Linda Hey dear, be proud of it whenever people say you are from Genny’s camp. Let’s view it from this angle, is there another camp you’d have loved they claim you represent? I want to believe for you, as far as African cinema goes it’s either GENEVIEVE NNAJI or GENEVIEVE NNAJI. Well, it’s same for me. Those claiming you are Genny are just making noise, ariwo oja lasan ni (i.e it’s just market noise, don’t get distracted). They very well know you are not Genny or from her business team, but from her her fan base. They just want to glorify their deluded minds, so I suggest you allow them. Let them write a million times that you are Genny or from her team, that is nothing, at the end of the day, the conviction in their hearts is another. Let’s continue showing support to our favorite ?.. By the way, I saw road to yesterday at the cinemas and I absolutely enjoyed it.

I watched road to yesterday and I didn’t like it. It was a very cliche movie. Relationship palava. Yes they tried to put a twist to it in the fact that the guy was already dead but to me the movie was expected. Relationship, slightly witty script and borderline dry. I loved the picture quality but I was tempted to sleep off. Some of the pole beside me even slept off.
Omoni Oboli’s First Lady. That’s a refreshing storyline with some of our African beliefs.
Just hope I don’t get called a hater. BTW, I wonder how pple get so emotional defending or hating poke they don’t know. I’m always indifferent to these stars

Guys, relax and stop hating on each other nah. This is like People’s Choice Awards not the Oscars or SAG or Critics Choice. Its more like a populariry awards so just celebrate with whoever has been nominated and move on abeg.
Lol. Just a side shade, i have always truly compared it to The People’s Choice awards so when these actors go on stage and act like its a Life Time Achievement Award, i just always ROTFL….. though its a good feeling when one gets recognized, regardless but abeg enough of the emotions already. Folks in Hollywood will rather be recognized with an Oscar, Golden Globe, SAG, Critics Choice, PGA, DGA, AFI’s Top Ten than a People’s Choice Award so biko nu

Now in relation to the Genevieve Nnaji being rude, I can confidently tell you she is not! This is someone I have met and she was extremely pleasant ad yes my sister was at the airport that day and trust me sisi yemmie was the one at fault for trying to video her! And now for the movie Road to yesterday it’s a a very classy movie and it’s very engaging, it’s for adult minds.. If that movie doesn’t win best movie then there is something wrong.. And as for best actress pls I watched the visit an Nse was not challenging as she did the norm but Genny told a story till the end… So for those of you hating on her success God bless you but also remember that in life everyone is misunderstood.. To vote Genny as best actress pls click this link amvca2016-awards.dstv.com/nominees/best-actress-in-a-drama-movie-tv-series_12 .. Have a blessed day

Truth be said, in the Best Actress Category (Drama), It is Adesua Etomi for that impressive role in Falling and maybe Nse for the Visit! Any winner short of this, is fluke.

Unfortunately i have not seen most of these movies, but i am proud of Adesua making that list, considering she has not been in Nollywood that long. I looove Nse too. Not sure who i would be voting for.

Really, am surprised why the Nigerian British Actor ; ORIS did not get a nomination in the Best Actor in a drama category. The dude’s execution and delivery of his role in Road to Yesterday, was Phenomenal ! Honestly, l think he deserves to be on that list than some of the names there….

I enjoyed everyone’s comment. I only stand for truth. Congrats to all d nominees, at least they were singled out as those who did their assignment well enough. I am happy nollywood is beginning to see a glimpse of the light. Yes I am a genevieve nnaji fan and I am an obsessed one for crying out loud but it doesn’t make me fling words at other actors. They are all talented but what I can’t understand is that why will the devil know that jesus is Lord and still be raising hopes of becoming messaiah. Majority in Nigeria know that genevieve nnaji is the most outstanding actress in nollywood, even her colleagues know this. Now I saw road to yesterday and I d first thing that hit me was that, I hope this movie will be enjoyed by the immature ones, toddlers who insult her thru blogs or amateurs who do not know what to look out for when watching a movie or analysing a character. That movie reached my very soul. Genevieve this time around came back to raise the bar and I agree with Charles novia when he said genevieve’s acting has a bitch bow down tune to it. I am sure you haters of Genny disliked his comment when I enjoyed it. Someone raised d issue of her clothing line being an epic fail. Are you mad, are u not learned, did you not hear the stories of great people whose small work started out as epic fail but have now become giants. Did they not teach you that you start small and even if it doesn’t look fine, just continue. You waste time and tell me Gennys clothing line is am epic fail but as long as you heard of it, did it not make headlines , since u heard of it did it not ring the bells of progression to you. You are a bitter hater and that’s it. How can you be here and insult someone’s hard work. May God judge you without mercy. Wait you want her to skyrocket into prada, or fendi or Jimmy choo? Pls use your head abi is it not there? Genevieve is best actress for me. They all deserve to win and by d way who says her film has not met amvca release date criteria, why did you suddenly grow an irritating interest over rty release date. I bet you don’t even know when other movies were released cos if you know then you will see that most movies were guilty of the truth. If you dislike or hate genevieve nnaji just remember something, look no other actor, I repeat actor and look her in the eyes. She carved a strange and fascinating path for herself in nollywood. Most of you who talk of her being rude have never met her before and that’s y I question you level of thinking. You judge based on mere here say and you haven’t even seen her before and then you open ur mouth and call her rude and all of sorts of trash. If you are one of them, then you need a mouth wash.

Taiwo and Kehinde Adeyemo sure are a pretty pair.
