BN Community Centre: Baby Girl with Three Holes in Her Heart

In March 2013, the BellaNaija team asked for your feedback on how to handle the issue of the emails we receive with regards soliciting for financial aid {Click here to read}. We were grateful for your feedback. Over the years, BellaNaija has published various feature stories on Nigerians in difficult situations and we are thankful that our BN Fam has supported in full force. From the man who was wrongly imprisoned for over a decade to and the struggling father suddenly saddled with major financial obligations due to the birth of his triplets.

During this time, we worked to get as much information as we could about different situations that was sent to us. In many cases, the people sending the emails don’t come back to us when we ask for more information. Sometimes they do and we are sceptical about the information given to us and as such we are unable to publish these stories. We will continue to publish these stories, however, we realize this is not enough.

While we are very concerned about the integrity of our brand and are conscious of the fact that there are too many fraudsters out there, we are definitely aware of the major challenges people go through every day.

We all know how difficult it is to raise money, even amongst the most ‘comfortable’ people. While many save for a rainy day or have health insurance, most cannot afford to set aside a contingency sum for sudden major illnesses.

In view of this, BellaNaija launched the BN Community Centre. This online platform will feature “calls for help” as submitted to us. This includes information, photos and account numbers. We are, however, stating categorically that we are doing only basic fact checking, therefore, we will not be held liable in ANY circumstance.

We encourage you to give if you can, however, please ensure you perform independent verification prior to donating any funds.

Dear Friends,

I am here to solicit your help in saving the life of Jana Angaye.

Jana was born December 29th 2012 with 3 holes in her heart and a damaged lung at birth. Funds were raised to send her to India in 2013 where two of the holes were closed up. Unfortunately, the 3rd couldn’t be blocked due to her low weight and age that time.

In October this year, it was discovered that her red blood cells increased, and the 3rd hole has further enlarged. Doctors have stated she needs to have the last stage of surgery in India before the end of this month (see attached medical report). She has been lying in pains in the hospital for weeks now. I appeal to your human nature and plead with you to send whatever you can to any of the below accounts:

Erhiga Janelle Efenarhua – GTB 0011340284

Ergiha Janelle Efenarhua – Ecobank 2721069958.

A GoFundMe page has also been opened for Jana here. Her mum, Erhiga, is a dear friend can be reached on 07067137824 or 08171298271. The Delta State University Teaching Hospital can also be contacted to verify the story.

Attached is the result of the Echo scan that was conducted in Jana confirming that she needs an urgent corrective surgery. Click the following links to see:

We are trying to raise about $68,000 for the surgery. I’ve copied her mum, Erhiga, so she can provide more information if required.

I can feel Erhiga’s pain as I have been there before. God bless you all, and keep our children from all forms of affliction, Amen.

ive given all i have to give…not judging but if u can spend on ice cream and pizza u can donate at least N1000. Not every1 is priviledged to just go to the bank and withdraw wat they need to settle bills…a little help goes a long way.
so in the spirit of christmas…lets give maybe it can spread the message of love and kill hatred floating around in our country and the world.

    Dear All,
Thank you for all your comments. Its a genuine cry for help.
Pls hearken to a mother’s plea.
So far we have been able to raise N3.2m from the generous donations of well meaning Nigerians.
The doctors have advised she should have the surgery before she turns 3yrs old. She will be 3yrs old in a few weeks time.
I don’t want to go against the doctors advise because of the consequences I might be faced with if the surgery is not carried out in due time.
I strongly believe help is on the way.
I am still appealing, I’m seriously begging pls kindly help save the life of my daughter, good people of Nigeria.

God bless you as you donate generously.
For further information and clarity pls feel free to contact me.
