Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa casting his vote during the 2015 Governorship Election at Ward 2 Sagbama Unit 6 in Sagbama Local Government Area on Saturday

Following the cancellation of elections in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Bayelsa State Governorship which took place on Saturday, December 5 2015, inconclusive.

INEC reps said “glaring cases of electoral malpractices characterized by ballot snatching and thuggery.”

Prior to the inconclusive declaration, INEC had announced results of seven Local Government Areas out of the eight in the state.

Based on the announcement, the incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had won in six out of the seven Local Government results declared by INEC. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Timipre Sylva had won in just one LGA.

A date will be announced for the new election.

APC is trying to turn Nigeria into a one party state but I don’t see them getting Bayelsa no matter the shenanigans. I’m not empathizing with PDP though, they did all these and more when they were in power. Nigerian politics is wa o!
Anyhoo, that’s their own cup of kunu. Fuel scarcity and a bad economy will not stop me from enjoying my Christmas………I love Christmas.

After officially declaring the pdp candidate winner in six out of seven LGAs where election took place, now INEC is saying the entire election is inconclusive? Because of one lga?!!!! Na wa! In nigeria it’s just when you think you moved forward you discover that you’re actually moving in circles. Pathetic!
