Man Arrested and Remanded in Prison For Stealing Infant Formula Worth N45,000 to Feed his Baby

Nurudeen28-year old Nurudeen Sulaimon was arrested by Policemen attached to Igando Division for allegedly stealing an infant formula worth N45,000 in a supermarket to feed his newborn baby.

Nurudeen was said to have gone to a supermarket on Oduso close where he allegedly stole some tins of SMS Gold infant formula, unknown to him that he was being viewed from the Close Circuit Television installed in the supermarket.

He was nabbed on his way out by private security and then handed over to the police. At the station, Nurudeen was reported have been begging for forgiveness saying that poverty led him to the act. He said that the cry of his newborn baby pushed him to steal.

He is reported to have pleaded not guilty in court where the presiding Magistrate, A. A. Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Nurudeen is to appear in court on April 27th 2016 but will be remanded in prison pending when he’ll be able to perfect his bail.
