NEW ABUJA ROUTE online for 640x480

The shrill tone of my phone woke me up from my slumber. After two sleepless nights of research, snoozing during the day was almost inevitable. With heavy eyelids, I glanced at the caller ID, saw it was my mum and turned my phone upside down. I love my mum but I just wasn’t in the right state of mind to speak with her. I sat upright on my seat as I continued my research, I had a deadline to meet and my paper had to be ready before close of business. After three gruesome hours, I finally tidied up the presentation, gladly pressed ‘send’ and waited for my boss to revert. I was a bit pensive when he called me into his office but when I saw the big grin he had on his face as I stepped into his office overlooking the beautiful land of Abuja, I relaxed a bit. He wasn’t only pleased with my work but also gave me two weeks off after complaining about the massive bags under my eyes. Lol! Things we do for work right…?

When I got home, I slept before my head hit the pillow, and had a dreamless beautiful night rest. I woke up startled the next morning totally forgetting I was on leave when I saw the sun filter through my curtains. Abuja was quite sunny this May, you dare not step out without a good sunscreen and shades. I checked my phone and saw my mum had tried calling again, I rolled my eyes as I redialled her number. She picked up on the first ring. She scolded me for not picking my calls and reminded me that she was getting old and needed grand kids. Parents’ right? Some children do ‘ave ‘em!

Almost immediately, my phone rang again with no caller ID this time. Warily, I picked up only to hear my best friend’s voice at the other end. She travelled to Johannesburg just last week and I was still cross with her for not informing me. “Babe, don’t be vexed now”, she cajoled me. “I only stumbled on the promo and just had to have it. It’s not all the time you get to enjoy premium comfort at basement price now. I saw $250, excluding airport taxes sha oh, for a direct flight from Abuja to Jo’burg and jumped at it immediately no dulling. South African Airways rock mehn. I had heard before oh but my experience confirmed it all!”

“See ehn, the staff and crew were so delightful. I enjoyed exquisite wines and delicious catering all aboard and as a cherry top on the cake, we were given handy destination guides that taught us everything about the city we were being flown to. Babe, make I no lie, it was swell! No stop overs, no nothing!”

What could I say? “I forgive you small sha…by the way how do I book before I faint of boredom here, I’m on leave let me enjoy wella” I said to her, already mentally dressing myself up for the trip.

“Yay!” She literally screamed into the phone. I imagined her prancing happily inside her hotel room and smiled. She continued happily, “To book your space, just visit flysaa.com or contact any of those your local travel agents. Today today oh! The special promotional fare is running throughout the month of May!”

So, Jo’burg, here I come. South African Airways let’s go there!
