The Borno command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday vowed to curb the menace of prostitution among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Ibrahim Abdullahi, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.

Abdullahi said that the command had observed that certain elements lure IDPs into prostitution in the guise of helping them.

“You know that these IDPs can easily be lured by criminals because of the situation they found themselves. The command is therefore vigilant and will leave no stone unturned to bringing the culprits to book.

We have drafted our men to all the strategic locations in the state capital to check such nefarious activities and anybody caught would be made to face the wrath of the law. We therefore call on all patriotic citizens of Borno to report such activities going on around them,” he said.
