Family to Hold First Year Remembrance Thanksgiving and Colloquium for Oba Okunade Sijuwade

The family of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, the 50th Ooni of Ife has fixed the date for his first year Remembrance.

The two-day event will kick off on Thursday, July 28th 2016, with a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ife. This will then be followed by a grand reception at the Castle of Mercy, Ede Road, Ile-Ife.

The following day, Friday, July19th 2016, a Colloquium, titled, “The Life and Times of Oba Okunade Sijuwade, Olubuse II, The 50^th Ooni of Ife”, will be hosted by The Institute of Cultural Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, at Oduduwa Hall, OAU.

Another reception will follow at Motel Royal, KM 4, Ede Road, Ile-Ife.

Oba Sijuwade joined his ancestors, last year on the evening of that fateful Tuesday, July 28th, at around 7PM. He was aged 85.

The revered royal father passed on at Saint Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, London, United Kingdom (U.K), where he was receiving treatment.
