The former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi speaking at a leadership, entrepreneurship, and -national development event – The Platform – made startling revelations about governance in Nigeria.

In this interview with CNBC, Obi proffers solutions to the country’s economic challenges.

Obi called for a well articulated policy that citizens can be confident in. He said economy is driven by hope, and once people can see hope in the economic policies, they will have faith and confidence

He also said that the carriers of the message of growing the economy must also be trustworthy people.

He said that there is no perfect economy, but economies with vision that is being driven by committed people.

While speaking on his time as governor of Anambra state and lessons states need to learn, Obi lamented the fact that there is no plan for economic development in most states, adding that that already means a plan to fail.

Continuing his speech on the cutting cost of governance in Nigeria, Obi said that to get the country out of recession, Nigeria must ask how we got to where we are now.

He called for constitutional amendment that will mandate the country to save – for a start – 10% of its revenue.
