Not more than 5 People go on a UK Trip with Me – Aisha Buhari

Aisha Buhari

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has reacted to a report by online news medium, SaharaReporters, that the Nigerian High Commission in the UK spends a minimum of £7,000 for hospitality on each of Aisha’s trips to the UK.

In a statement by her media aide, Adebisi Ajayi, Aisha also dismissed the report that she traveled to U.K with a large entourage, saying that the highest number of people on a trip with her were 5 – 3 of her children, her ADC, and her personal physician.

See the statement below:

The attention of the Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari has been drawn to a report in Sahara Reporters where, she was amongst other things accused of abuse of privileges at Nigerian High Commission in London.

It is not in her interest to join issues with anyone or defend others mentioned in the report, it is however paramount to put the record in proper perspectives as its concern her trips to UK vis-à-vis the Nigerian High Commission in London.

Aisha Buhari has never traveled to London with a large entourage as was carried in the report. The highest number of people on a trip involves her three kids, ADC, and her personal physician.

The Nigerian Commission in London has never offered any favor either monetarily or materially to her or her so called entourage on any of her trips to London.

The state house in Abuja caters for her meal when necessary, and other healthy food or variety needed by her children are her personal responsibility.

It is on record that the Nigerian Commission in London does not receive Aisha Buhari at the airport with any official distinction or privileges as was accorded other first ladies before her. Her drivers are privately arranged without any recourse to the embassy for staff.

She has never complained or raised dust about any of these acts by the High Commission because of the understanding, as clearly spelt out and practiced by her husband, that public office must be separated from the private lives of the occupants.

She has always been an advocate of good governance where officials of government are responsive and appealing to their constituents, it therefore baffles the imagination that one could believe she would corroborate with any government official however highly placed either at home or abroad to shortchange the Nigerian people.

These records are not hidden for a non-mischievous reporter who really intends to inform the people and not to disparage the family of the President just to add weight to a report.

Aisha Buhari would have ignored this, like all of such baseless accusations, but the angle to which the report was presented has a corruption and abuse of privileges connotation which negates the fundamental principle upon which this administration thrives.

Consequently, SaharaReporters or any of the embassy staff is hereby challenged to provide any concrete evidence either in hard or soft copy to contradict Aisha’s Buhari’s position as it concerns her trips to London. “Sahara reporter should take the challenge and come out with the true version in relation to Aisha Buhari if not for her reputation and that of her family, but for the sake of good Nigerians who deserve to know the truth at all times.

why must you even travel with 3 of your kids on each trip . And a personal physician ?! When there are several reputable hospitals in the UK!
And you are in good health condition.
You and one or two of your personal assistants is quite understandable but anything other than that is a pure waste of resources! Screaming change but at least 3 members of your family travel with you on all official trips abroad ! ☝️️

A physician is kinda necessary especially for the first lady. Let’s not be too quick to condemn without thinking rationally. If the high commission says they are spending this money, yet Aisha is saying that’s not true, let’s follow the money then

How about those extremely expensive designer bags, wristwatches and fashion she wears?? I think this lady just threw caution to the winds and forgot that people were also assessing her based on Buhari’s claims of stopping corruption.

Enough already. Northerners are wealthy!!!!! Let’s just get that out of the way, the wealthiest Nigerians are northerners. This family aren’t low or middle class, they have money. And Aisha had her own money, how is that hard to understand. She didn’t come from a poor family to the expensive clothing could be bought or gifted.

Let’s follow the money. Sahara should follow the high commission and actually track where this money goes. Leave your fucking emotions out of it and follow the numbers.

Regular folks travel with their children and she should not? All these silly people need to get a grip. When the last admin was living large the same people kept quiet. Don’t disparage people because they are trying to live simply.

Oh please stop making noise. How many times did the former First Lady travel with her children? I don’t remember seeing them on any trips. Are the Buhari children babies that need to be breastfed? What are they following their mother around for? Not once, twice or thrice. When people justify what the current administration is doing by saying that the previous administration did the same thing, where then is the so called change? If Jonathan was traveling with his children and saying it was from his pocket, would any of us have believed him? We are in a freaking recession. People are suffering. You are the silly one that need to get a grip

Then stop doing things that will create room for accusations. Be like Mrs Osibanjo whose husband i believe has more money than your husband implied about himself pre presidency. Do not wear high end luxury brands, in fact patronize Naija made, be sensitive to the recession then we would know that you are a first lady that is genuinely concerned about the plight of the citizens of Nigeria. While some people have defended you by claiming you are the first lady so you should represent by looking good, that can be done affordably. Your understanding would fall on deaf ears if people who are hungry look at you and all they see is their bread and butter hanging from your ear lobes, school fees on the crook of your arm, house rent on your neck, utility bills on your wrist and transportation on your feet. Now that i think of it more sef Mrs Osibanjo does her thing without trying to be political, she is on her own path, and she just may have put the needs of the nation first by not flaunting her opportunity (she does have her own privileges i’m sure) as opposed to our first lady who wasn’t supposed to have an office. I wonder where she runs all these affairs from with her PA et all.
As for taking three children with her (i wonder if that was the trend prior to first lady) i am also curious since we’ve only seen the 3 girls on the trip, doesn’t the youngest daughter go to school? Would it not be considered interference if a mother in law takes her daughter away from her own home, young children and husband as she does with the first daughter? Would she continue with the same interference now that Zara is married or let her start her home (those Indimi girls would cause lots of interference trust me she does not need more)? Madam let your children be, let them forge their own path. Now i’m beginning to think you are controlling as well.
Anyway, she forgot to include her makeup artiste, we all know she traveled with you for UNGA. Evidence is on Instagram.
