Fishermen in Lagos Rescue Woman Attempting Suicide over her Inability to Pay Bank Debt

According to several reports, a woman by the name of Abigael Ogunyinka was rescued by fishermen in Lagos this evening when she attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the Lagoon. She was rescued by fishermen before being handed over to the Rapid Response Squad.

According to TVC News, Abigael Ogunyinka explained that she had attempted to jump into the lagoon because she was owing N150,000 borrowed from a microfinance bank. She said she had collected the loan to fund her ‘amala’ business and she has been in default for two weeks.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Fatai Owoseni, stated that the case is being investigated by the police. that the police is making efforts to authenticate the woman’s story by contacting the bank and help pay.
