This has got to be the most sensible thing I’ve heard from Dencia. Your grandpa was not exactly right however on the pastor being the only person that benefits from church. Besides spiritual nurturing, which an attendee could of good conscience get (even from a crooked pastor), churches undertake a lot of community work.

Dencia is absolutely right. You know there is something wrong with your country when it has more churches than schools and hospitals; when church members cannot afford one meal a day but give all they have to their pastor who owns a private jet & lives in a mansion, when people are so brainwashed to fear ‘witches’ that they will walk past a starving boy accused of being a wizard, when a white woman from a major atheist country has more compassion on the starving boy than Nigerians who claim to be ‘believers’. (true story, remember the story of the starving boy last year?)

As a born again Christian it breaks my heart to agree with Dencia. But God doesn’t sleep. There will be revival in the church. All these pastors who have forgotten the God of Ananias and Sapphira will get their comeuppance. They will begin to fall down and die and we will see true men of God whose only purpose is to emulate Christ.

They will not fall down and die.
The only way they will fall and die is if you people stop giving them your money and time!

When the bleaching cream takes over your brain cells …

So they don’t have churches in the western world ? Just because there is good infrastructure and light in said places doesn’t mean they’re better off than us .

Who introduced religion to us ? Last I checked Christianity was in Egypt long before . Islam preaches about helping the poor . So don’t blame a few bad preachers for ruining a said continent.

Africans are where we are because people came to exploit us and we’ve yet to get back on track . We are where we are because of corruption , greed , funds not being dispersed evenly . It’s okay to admit that we could possibly be our own problem.

Actually…since they have good infrastructure and light meanS they are DEFINATELY BETTER OFF THAN US!!

Yes, definitely better off than us.

There is a factual connection between poverty and religion ! The more religious the country the poorer it is in terms of development. The U S is the only country that is quite developed and religious as well. But even when you look at the U.S. there is crippling poverty in their bible belt – states that are the most religious. Dont take my word for it , do your own research.

Forgot to include the Arab states – thank God for their oil – they probably would be as undeveloped as Africa if not for their oil

Since i got to the UK i kindly placed my self in catholic church. I go to church, thank God and go back home. A friend invited me to her church (mountain of fire), after that day I told her not to invite me again please. Aside the fact that the pastor blew air and most of the congregation fell down, to kabashing and pushing someones head was not enough. The everyday call began even after specifically stating I have my own church, they were discrediting it stating I should come to a real house of worship (technically my own church was not real).
I can’t with most African churches.
I still remember a church where one of my granddad’s cousin was a pastor(may their soul rest in peace). A member dropped #5 in the tray (many years back) and this pastor threw the money back at the member right in church LOL. I was shocked and knew that was completely wrong even at my young age. That was the day I decided to change church abeg.
or is it the one when i went visiting home and went to my church and the pastor wife was preaching, basically a family member of hers that lived abroad promise to send her child to school but could not due to reasons best known to them. Na so this pastor wife begin vex and stated that she prays that when those abroad come back to Nigeria, they will see those in Nigeria more better than them that live in the so called abroad. Me as an abroad returnee pinched myself and borrow slippers to run. Got back to the UK and I got a facebook message that the youth service is coming up and I should send my own part of the contribution every youth in the church is paying. I replied okay and logged out

Nigerians especially need to worship God directly themselves not through pastors like most of them do. These pastors are humans just like you and can fall short.

Catholic church still full of poop. You all like deceiving yourselves that it’s better because it’s whiter and more organized… The money in the Vatican alone can cure world hunger. Stop falling yourself.

Organized religions/superstition,corruption and tribalism are the main reason of africa’s current situation!

Years back Fela sang about this, listen to suffering and smiling and he was insulted, Fast forward the scales has started to fall off people’s eyes – Pastors of today have no credibility and God knows it.

religion shouldn’t be blamed. problems arise because of a lack of common sense.

I agree. Countries like the UAE are religious but still advanced.
Remove religion from Africa and there will still be conflict & underdevelopment because we are very wicked to each other, short sighted, cannot see the bigger picture and do not seem to know or care about long term planning & the greater good.
Before the colonialists came with organized religion, were we not warring among ourselves and enslaving each other?
Remove religion and we would still be divided among ethnic lines…people will still inflate contracts and embezzle money meant for public use.
When people like Diezani are stealing billions are they doing it in the name of religion?
Or the guy arrested 2 days ago for repackaging expired goods?
We are wicked people o jare.

Thank you so much for this. Everyday we scream religion is the problem, typical nigerians or should i say africans looking for who else to blame but most countries in the middle east that are islamic are doing very well. Take it from me, we are the problem because we have allowed leaders who lack vision to continue to rule us and steal from this country. Besides the US founding fathers were very religious and see how their economy continues to thrive. Saying religion is the problem well that’s complete bs.

How come every rant on organized religion begins and ends with church/pastors/Christians?

  14. A reminder to All

    March 17, 2017 at 10:04 am

    Reminder to All:

Pastor or no pastor, we all are called to emulate Christ and like a holy life!
Have you all forgotten that the bible says God is no respecter of Persons?

Pastor, deacon, evangelist….are all offices same as we have offices of the president, vice president….. Human beings man these offices and don’t forget that to err is human….

Yours is to emulate Christ and live your own life…Let Him live his and receive his own judgement.

Listen all, we all will be judged individually. Pastor will receive his own, you will receive yours and i will receive mine. If you allow a pastor to decieive you or because of one pastor go astray, YOU ARE STRICTLY ON YOUR OWN O.

If you say cos Pastor dey give money out, you no go pay *tithe* or offering, well when things start getting *tight* for you….just know you are on your own. If you stop going to church, worshiping God or go astray,,,,you are going to hell on your own o…the pastor will go to his own…Nothing like he made me do it o…If he say make you jump inside river, you go jump?

The only eish i have is when people who are infidels, who are not dedicated use the opportunity of one Pastors act/scandal to discredit religion/Christianity….BE WATCHFUL!!!!!!!

Each to his own o…………….Ayaf talk my own
