Youth-focused media brand, Accelerate TV has stepped up its game to inspire youths through its new project, the Accelerate Filmmaker Project.
The Accelerate Filmmaker Project is an initiative that creates an avenue for young, aspiring filmmakers to make their dreams come true.
The programme, which held between June 5th and 9th, 2017, saw 15 participants between the ages of 18 and 28 make it into a thorough filmmaking educational programme.
Training in the areas of production, screenwriting, directing, lighting, editing, acting, casting, management, makeup, branding, marketing, among others were delivered by Nollywood veterans, including Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, O.C. Ukeje, Bibi Sasore, Bose Oshin, Lawrence Adejumo, Adeoye Omotayo, Jennifer Alegieuno, James Emokwe, Julian Nwagboniwe, Tolu Ajayi among others.
All the participants were clothed, fed and provided with stationeries throughout their stay with Accelerate. They were given complimentary shirts, books and pens.
They also had the chance to interact with Access Bank’s Head, Strategic Brand Management, Corporate Communications, Amaechi Okobi, Accelerate’s Head of Marketing, Jite Ovueraye and Producer, Bolanle Olosunde during their training period.
The last day of the project saw the 15 participants pitch their movie ideas to a panel, made up of Joke Silva, Lala, Niyi Akinmolayan, Seyi Babatope, Judith Audu and O. C. Ukeje, who picked the five best movie ideas.
The winners will have their short films shot, produced and showcased at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) this year.
Priye Diri, Emmanuel Oiseomaye, Micheal Akinrogunde, Adenike Adebayo and Joshua Olanrewaju came tops and have already started shooting.
