Our pride!
More power to your elbow Ms Funke.
While I understand that it is a thing of joy for her and I family, I just don’t understand how being recognised as a member of another person’s country means you-as an indigene of where you come from- are winning.
Exactly.
somethings are not meant for myopic mind to digest…………. happy holiday season.
@Mannie I accidentally liked your comment.
What is wrong with you? So achievements are only valid if they are recognised by the country we hail from? Try and think a little please. So Wole Soyinka should not have become a Nobel laureate, Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Adiche should only have put out books through Nigerian publishers? The awards won by the Nigerian doctor who discovered CTE should be given back? Yvonne Orji, Jidenna, Davido, Wizkid, etc should limit themselves to national not international recognition? I agree with wifematerial, this is myopism in the extreme. I understand patriotism but before coming for all the people making strides outside Nigeria, ask yourself whether these people would be where they are in Nigeria? Will this our country even let us be great? Would this Nigeria not have killed their dreams, fire and passion? Ask yourself what Nigeria has ever done for you? This woman is probably a product of the British Education system and all the opportunities the British society provides to its inhabitants. She is probably as British as she is Nigerian especially if she has lived there for a while. This might be news to Nigerians at home but I am here to tell you that the two are not mutually exclusive. Its called being a dual national. And finally, you will be alright- get yourself some exposure outside of what you are used to and inderstanding will come.
Trust me, she probably has a UK citizenship so she can choose to identify as a Brit or a Nigerian.
