The Alexander Review: Mind, 4Dayz, Isi Ego... A look at Last Week's Top Singles

Last week proved to be a week in which artists did not make much of cooking up hits – it was a less productive one. Although, few still managed to grace this platform with their efforts in the studio, conniving with producers and mixing personnel to make sure the fans are satisfied. On the review, in no particular order, I’ve got:

Mind – DMW featuring Davido, Peruzzi, Dremo, Mayorkun

Mind is the extraordinary flowing elements of a group’s efforts in delivering a collective task. Davido and his signees serve a typical Afro-pop tune with touch of RnB flavor. I tried looking for a fault in this track but found none.

Rating: 4/5

4Dayz – Kiss Daniel

Building on the success of his last singles, Yeba and No Do, Kiss Daniel jumps into the booth to create a replica of Duro. 4Dayz is a tune which preaches trust and love. Kiss Daniel’s flawless offering will definitely be on the Valentine playlist. The groovy track is capable to make one dance.

Rating: 4/5

Isi Ego – Phyno

Isi Ego is an undiluted rap song. Phyno goes to his closet of punchlines and wordplay to gift his fans that touch of delivery once again. With a sleek anthem as hook, the radio stations just got themselves another one to play, as usual.

Rating: 4/5

Iseju Meji – Pasuma featuring 9ice

Pasuma broke out of his fuji norm to create this groovy track. He traded verses and bridges with 9ice on the track to show his ease at recording hits for his long-term fans. This complete Yoruba-fused pop track will make the DJ mixes in the coming weeks.

Rating: 4/5

Today – Attitude

Attitude challenges his own relevance by releasing quality singles occasionally. He spills his feelings of love on a production of light drums and up-tempo.

Rating: 3.5/5

Jaiye – DJ Kentalky featuring Reekado Banks

Jaiye is a party tune which boasts of Reekado’s touch of versatility on any type of production. DJ Kentalky has another Mavin on his work after his last effort with Tiwa Savage.

Rating: 3/5

 Salt – Lamboginny

The master of Afrobeats Lamboginny gifts the airplay with this delivery. He uses Yoruba proverbs in a fun-filled manner to sing his lines. I must commend the creativity of Lamboginny on Salt.

Rating: 4/5

Ayo – Oyinkanade

The man, who has previously collaborated with Olamide on Adura Remix returns after a hiatus to pray on his latest offering. Ayo (Joy) brags of that neat delivery that is dependent on the Joy in which the prayers brings.

Rating: 4/5

My Way – Mr P

Mr. P drops My Way just as Valentine season approaches. My Way is a mid tempo song which sees Mr P singing between keys. The song already has a video to compliment its delivery.

Rating: 4/5

Open & Close – Dr Sid

Dr. Sid starts his year with this track produced by Don Jazzy and Altims. Dr Sid, who has been quiet for sometime decided to gift us this nice work of production.

Rating: 3.5/5

Happy – Moelogo and Adekunle Gold

The two friends decide to partner once again. Happy is a track which sees the two embracing happiness regardless of circumstances surrounding them. Happy‘s production was tailored to their taste as the two made no mistake in delivering a hit.

Rating: 4/5

The review is genre-mixed and was made for fans and music lovers’ insatiable predilection. Evidently, artists tend to create a make-shift work different from their last offering.
