The City of Chicago has filed a lawsuit against Jussie Smollett after he failed to pay $130,000 to the city for the police investigation of his report of a racist and homophobic attack.

CNN reports that according to court documents filed on Thursday in Cook County court, Chicago’s Department of Law said that over two dozen police officers and detectives spent weeks working in Smollett’s case, resulting in 1,836 overtime hours.

The city put the price of the overtime hours as $130,106.15.

The suit also said Smollett should pay $1,000 for each “false statement” he made to police and cover attorneys’ fees and other litigation costs.

Smollett’s attorneys had said he’d not be harassed or intimidated into paying the sum. They are yet to comment on the suit.

The city is asking for a jury trial to determine how much Smollett could pay.
