The Nigerian Senate, early in November, re-introduced a bill that will regulate the use of social media in the country. The bill prohibits statements on social media deemed “likely to be prejudicial to national security” and “those which may diminish public confidence” in Nigeria’s government. It proposes these offenses be punishable by a fine, a prison sentence of three years, or both.
In this video, reality TV star Anto Lecky breaks down the social media bill that has since sparked widespread protests by Nigerian on social media.
