In this exclusive interview with BellaNaija, singer and songwriter Samuel Idowu, widely known as Soundz discusses the highlight of his career, hit single “Attention,” the creative process of his EP “In The Rough” and what to expect in the future.

How does getting so much “Attention” for this song feel?

It feels amazing, it’s really a blessing to see the song doing what it was made for. It was a very intentional record.

What was the creative process of your EP “In The Rough” like?

I was going through a rough patch at the time, and I wanted my music to be a mirror of that, I wanted the world to feel how I felt, I titled the EP ”In The Rough” because it signifies a person with so much unappreciated potential.

What has been the highlight of your career so far?

The highlight of my career is stepping on stages outside my usual environment and having people sing along to my music when I perform.

I really feel like they are pioneers in making timeless music which is one of my major goals, so I believe we would definitely make timeless music

What was growing up like and how did it influence your interest in music?

Growing up, music always makes me happy and I was always very curious about music and how it was made more than I randomly enjoyed listening to it. So that pushed me to want to create my own music and make people happy too.

How do you unwind when you’re not working?

I love hanging out with friends, drinks and loud music.

What should we expect from Soundz in the coming year?

I’m coming with more addictive Soundz, whether or not the world is ready for it.
