Omotola shines at exclusive screening of ‘IJE’

The PR campaign for the movie IJE:The Journey is in full gear as the first public screening for the movie was held in California a few weeks ago.
Omotola Ekeinde who has a starring role in the movie graced the event dressed in a stunning gown by Nigerian designer Zizi Cardow. For the full scoop on the event, read the press release and check out photos below.

For the VIP screening for upcoming international feature film, “IJE: The Journey” on Saturday November 14th 2009 at the Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, CA, a-listers showed up to get a sneak peak of a movie that will undoubtedly merge the Nollywood and Hollywood entertainment industries. The movie stars Nigeria’s top actresses Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, as well as Hispanic sensation Odalys Garcia and upcoming heartthrob Ulrich Que. Directed by Chineze Anyaene and produced by Chineze Anyaene and Paula Moreno, IJE commands the international and American fan base as it is diverse and appeals across age, race, and gender lines. The movie has a riveting film score and boasts of excellence in cinematography and editing. It is compelling story captured the audience’s attention from start to finish.
Xandria Productions invited an exclusive group for a V.I.P. screening of IJE the Journey. It was a packed house as more than 200 guests filled the studio at capacity with the director, producers, and cast members in attendance; Representatives from the office of the Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa, the Vice President of the Grammy Awards, Nigeria’s own Prince Malik Ado Ibrahim, Richard Elfman (Forbidden Zone, Bone Chillers) Hollywood actors Hakeem K. Kazim (The Fourth Kind , Hotel Rwanda , 24), Razaaq Adoti (Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Amistad), Sammi Rotibi (CSI: NY, NYPD Blue) and Hope Olaide Wilson (Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All by Myself) made appearances as well. Film industry representatives, distributors, and media folks rounded out the guests, who finished trickling in at around 7:30pm. A reception at Warner Brothers immediately followed the screening. Producer Paula Moreno was smiling from ear to ear as she greeted guests. “It is a immense honor to have Nigerian talent in this film such as Omotola, Genevieve and Director/Producer Chineze,” she said “These women are the epitome of Nollywood and it has been a pleasure working with them.”
Nollywood and Hollywood are known for their glamorous red carpet movie premieres, and though this all exclusive VIP screening was an entirely different private experience, it generated a considerable amount of buzz in both industries. “We are extremely thrilled about the completion of IJE and wanted to have an event that would enable us to share our journey with the entertainment community,” said Director and producer Chineze Anyaene, who is now gearing up for the official premiere, which will include the traditional red carpet and press line. When asked about a trailer, Anyaene reassured fans that a theatrical trailer would be released very soon. “Stay tuned,” she promised “we have great things in store for you all.”
IJE: The Journey opens in theaters in 2010.

To nikisho, why are you hating unneccessarily? couldnt you have thought that maybe genevieve wasnt there at the screening?.. anyways i think Omotola looks hoott and sexy, and the gown is tight.. Stop hating.. i went to the private premere at the US and Omotola really pulled a masterstroke performance..

“Colo-mentality” makes me laugh. History, they say, is written by the victors. How does one explain movies made in the 60s, 70s and even 80s where an aboriginal or African tribe is seen “roasting” a white man/woman? If such movies were produced (financed) and directed by, say, non-white people, perhaps there would have featured a white man roasting an aborigine or African. Hmmm … maybe I am displaying my lack of knowledge of history. Please dont take me seriously, I am just being comical with my thoughts.
Once, again out of lack of knowledge, we are showing that we are still colonized. A successful self made indigenous industry, kissing up to oyinbo man. Please remember that the fans (common man) are watching and at the end of the day the industry will be taken away from you, if u allow Hollywood. They will rewrite the industry and promote only stereotypical images and limit the creativity of our artists. If they make in road into the market, they will shut the door in your faced once they get the control that they want. Also, understand that over exposure will destroy your blssoming careers. You do not need validation from Western Film Making institutions. Your return on investment is far greater than theirs, when u compare the your revenues with your budget, just do the math. The Hollywood industry is in debt and are just putting up a front. A word is enough for the wise “All that gliters is not gold’. Don’t sell your soul to the Devil, as he has nothing to offer.Pick only from them those things that benefit you, such as their technology,directing techniques,marketing prowess,editing tecniques, animation,e.t.c, but don’t sell us out and don’t sell you soul,please we beg of u.
u’ve got a point there…in some uncanny sort of way u show d future, all this search for foriegn validation is neo colonialism, we need the technical depth and expertise yes, but we av d market potential, we can b bigger, not the pursuit of oyinbo approval

This is the best I have seen Omotola look even with that sexy “scowl” on her face but big ups to Naija. Hopefully, a sign of better things to come in the Nollywood industry!!
When things like this come to USA, please find a way to let the commom people know. We watch Nigerian movies by the millions. It is unfair to exclude us because we dont belong in the Hollywood/Nollywood crowd,but we are the ones who buy these movies
