Knight International Journalism Awards 2011 – Nominations Close March 15th

Do you know any media professionals worldwide who have taken bold steps to keep citizens informed despite great obstacles? Here’s a timely opportunity to nominate them for a worthwhile recognition of their efforts over the years!

The International Center for Journalists is currently seeking nominations for the 2011 Knight International Journalism Awards. The Awards recognize professional or citizen journalists whose reporting has made a significant difference in the lives of their fellow citizens.

The Knight International Journalism Award recognizes media professionals worldwide who have taken bold steps to keep citizens informed despite great obstacles.

Award winners will receive a trip to the United States, where they will be honoured at ICFJ’s Awards Dinner on November 1, 2011. Each winner will also receive a $3,000 cash prize and a crystal trophy.

Past Winners
Past recipients include pioneering correspondents who have exposed government corruption, war crimes and other important stories. The award also has honored crusading publishers determined to maintain their independence despite enormous political and financial pressures.

Recipients of the Knight International Journalism Award epitomize the journalistic ideals fostered by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the International Center for Journalists.

Winners are nominated by Knight International Journalism Fellows, past and present, and other seasoned international journalists.

The deadline for nominations is March 15, 2011.
