Jumping The Broom Naija Style – Win a DVD!

If you’re an avid reader of BellaNaija, you must know how much we love weddings! In Africa, and indeed for our distant relatives – African-Americans – a wedding is not only the union of two people, but also of their families.

The movie Jumping The Broom brings the humour, heartbreak and warmth when two African-Americans, one lower class and one bougie (bourgeois) meet each other’s families for the first time right before their wedding. The couple of six months begins to question their decision to ‘jump the broom’ against a backdrop of family secrets.

Jumping The Broom recently became available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011. So if you missed the movie in cinemas, here’s your chance to have it delivered right to your doorstep.
Through BN Bargains, our 5th anniversary iPad prize and weekly Afrobeats Festival ticket giveaways, our UK and Nigerian readers have reaped the rewards of being a BN reader.
Now BN is giving away a DVD to a lucky reader who lives in the United States. We know, we wish we could give away more!

How to Win:
Answer ONE of the following questions correctly. E-mail: contests@bellanaija.com with your full name, answer and phone number. If you win, we will contact you for your address.

In Jumping The Broom, what French curse word did Sabrina’s mum, Mrs. Watson (played by Angela Bassett) call her husband’s perceived mistress?
OR
In Jumping The Broom, what did the groom’s mum, Mrs. Taylor (played by Loretta Devine) do for a living?

Deadline: 5pm (Nigerian Time)/12 Noon (Eastern Time), Sunday, August 13, 2011.

So for our other readers who can’t win the DVD, don’t feel left out, you can always join in the fun in our comments section!

Do you dare share a Jumping The Broom story?
Any monster-in-law nightmares you heard about?
What are some tips for dealing with your relatives?
How would you manage if your family didn’t get along with your future in-laws?

Let’s discuss!

UPDATE: Congratulations to our DVD winner: Notie Andrea Erhahon.

P.S. The answer to the second question was in the trailer. Mrs. Taylor (played by Loretta Devine)’s uniform was labelled ‘United States Postal Service’.

Thanks for playing!

This is dumb. You said, if you did not get a chance to see this movie at the cinema, here is a chance to win the DVD and then the two questions you ask are from the movie. How the heck is one to answer the question if one never saw the movie?

    • biola August 15, 2011 at 10:06 AM

bellanaija you are not tooo smart, how am supposed to answer the questions all based on the movie, if i have not watched it. if i have then watch the movie, why would i answer questions that will make me win the dvd. you need to do your homework and your website is dropping. i know you wont print this comment…. but so you know, you are losing your readers.

      • Naj August 15, 2011 at 10:14 AM
