In anticipation of Ghana Fashion & Design Week (GFDW), organisers have collaborated with photographer Kyoko Munakata and London-based Ghanaian designer, Beatrice Korlekie Newman for a promotion campaign titled, “licorice”. Featuring Ghanaian models Soraya Akua Khalil and Phyllis Tekyi-Berto as the two protagonists, Director, Daryl Rita Osekreh , creates an atmosphere masked by dim lights which the models warm up with their illuminating ebony skins. The sophisticated contemporary silhouettes of Korlekie‘s add sweetness to the dark atmosphere; exploring the appeal of bitter/sweet flavour of the licorice plant.

Ghana Fashion & Design Week is a contemporary international platform envisioned to direct, lead and promotes both emerging and established designers to a global audience.
