BN Bytes: Wizkid & Sarkodie Bag the 2012 BET Award for Best International Act (Africa)
A huge congratulations to the Nigerian superstar, Wizkid who represented to the fullest at the recently concluded BET Awards 2012 last night, July 1st in Los Angeles, which was hosted by the veteran highest grossing actor of all time, Samuel L. Jackson, where he won the prestigious award for Best International Act – Africa.
In a similar vein to last year’s BET Awards, when 2Face Idibia and D’Banj jointly won the award for Best International Act – Africa, this year’s winners were Nigeria’s Afro-Pop Sensation, Wizkid and Ghana’s “Rapperholic”, Sarkodie.
Amongst a group of very qualified nominees – Camp Mulla (Kenya), Ice Prince (Nigeria), Lira (South Africa) and Mokobe (Mali), these two came out on top but nonetheless, congratulations to the very talented nominees who are representing Africa to the fullest and keep churning out beautiful music.
This is Wizkid‘s second major international award as he won the award for Best African Act at the 2011 edition of the MOBO Awards.
Also, reppin’ it for Naija, was Maybach Music Group’s Wale, who won the 2012 BET Award for Best Collaboration for his chart-topping single with Miguel, “Lotus Flower Bomb” off his sophomore album, “Ambition”.
He also hit the stage with his Maybach Music artists, Meek Millz and Rick Ross to perform their massive hits “Bag Of Money”, “So Sophisticated” and “Black Magic”. Here’s a video of them shutting it down at the show. (Wale almost spilled champagne all over Kanye West‘s All-white ensemble… that would have been a mess.)
