BN Style Bytes: Jewel by Lisa’s Moda Operandi Star Turn
Posted on Monday, July 16th, 2012 at 12:06 PMBy BellaNaija.com

All through last week, Luxe Nigerian fashion label, Jewel by Lisa was featured on luxury online fashion retailer Moda Operandi. The week-long event was a virtual Jewel by Lisa trunk show. Fashion fans got to chance to pre-order “straight off the runway” Jewel by Lisa pieces.
According to our sources, JBL was well received on the site which is viewed as one of the most promising online fashion startups with its recent coups including trunkshows for leading fashion houses including Versace, Valentino, Vionnet, Kenzo and Marni. The company which was founded in 2010 by Áslaug Magnúsdóttir and Lauren Santo Domingo thrives on exclusivity.
Here’s what Moda Operadi had to say about JBL.
WHO: Lisa Folawiyo’s Jewel By Lisa Collection
WHAT: The designer perfected the art of wearing Ankara (local West African fabric) and brought the traditional African fashion to the Western world through the use of embellishments and modern silhouettes.
WEAR: Folawiyo’s sparkly party dresses and fabulously unique outerwear in prints unlike any other you have in your closet!
WHY: Jewel by Lisa collections have turned a culturally established tradition into a contemporary fashion must-have.
WISDOM: “This collection is about a lady – the lady I crave to be most times…From cocktail dresses to little short suits in the most adored prints and textures…they are classically cool pieces that will forever be loved.”
Congrats JBL.
Looking forward to more.

Nice!

For Eku Edowor
My tailor cud make these blind-folded….i c no design!
To the person dat said “for Eku Edewor’…I CUDNT AGREE WIF U MORE. U r so ryt!!
Really? Your tailor works with custom prints and artfully beads the surface of your clothes? Oh…okay…may I please have this tailor’s number? Nonsense.
P.S. BN, that was a rather subpar ‘sampling’. JBL’s strong on design but the beauty is usually in the details.
No be ankara? abegi jor…..go siddon!
there is nothing on the cloth, no concept, no design. just over-hyped
I love this woman and her line! Her drive is impressive and her execution always admirable! God bless the works of your hands, Lisa!!

The next time you take your time to cover 6 yards of fabric with beads, i’ll listen to what you have to say, until then, you and your ‘tailor’ can hug transformer. shior.
