Simply “To Dye For”! Presenting the 2013 Resort Collection by Ghanaian Fashion Label – Christie Brown
Posted on Monday, January 21st, 2013 at 8:04 AMBy BellaNaija.com

After a departure from their signature aesthetic with 2012′s XUTRA, Ghanaian fashion label Christie Brown returns with a 2013 Resort Collection. This collection is described as “flirtatious and whimsical“, we totally agree!
This time Christie Brown’s designer, Aisha Obuobi experiments with tie dye and batik. She says she was inspired by Grace of Grazie Fabrics in Ghana who has successfully built a 20 year old batik/tie dye business by “fusing the most complementary of colours to make unique non-replicable prints.“
We love the fusion and collaborative story behind this collection.

beautiful
I want all this outfits in my wardrobe. Just wow……
i love all the collection, they look really classy. take note some wannabe naija designers
Apart from Look 8, the fabric choices are so wrong. All that mixing of cheap lace and lycra with cotton print and that awful ruffling on an almost perfect dress (look 2) are just wrong. Christie Brown has an eye for commercial design but she definitely needs refinement. It’s quite disappointing given that the designs could have been wayyy better.
PS: Is it just me or super designers such as Maki Oh & JBL are heavily criticized by BN commenters while average work such as this one are very celebrated? A little telling on the crowd type, isn’t it? Just a thought.
I couldn’t disagree more. Her fabric choices are in line with her price point so I’m not expecting silk chantilly. Also her finishing is neat enough to make inexpensive fabrics look good unlike some of the “super designers” whose puckered seams and wavy hems make couture silks look like bargain basement acrylic.
Maki Oh is an avant-garde designer so I wouldn’t expect the masses to buy into what she is doing as its very much for the “Fashun!” crowd ( I love her by the way). And jbl is much loved by this audience but lately imho she has fallen off her game in terms of the design while her pr game still remains on point and I’m sure she has many crowd pleasing collections in her future so no worries.
We are however in agreement about look 8. The colours are lovely and I think I’m going to order it.
Her work is consistently good. In the past I’ve found it a little too “girly” for me and while the feminity is still there the sophistication seems to have stepped up as well. Does she have a Lagos stockist and are her pieces ready to wear cos my purse is itching.
Yeah her designs are stocked in Temple Muse(No 21,Amodu Tijani str off sanusi fafunwa,vi)
Wow….this is amazing. the designs are so original
Nice Collection..P.S. Naija Designers take note please. We tired of those pieces you people conjure together and refer to as a collection..

Christie Brown aka Aisha Oboubi its about time you opt for another career with your psychology degree, getting bored of your so called fashion business. Shift off Duaba Serwa is here. Take your creative design seriously……… Poor customer service at your shop, you act like you are the only Ghanaian Designer based is Ghana…..all I am saying is your brand is a time bomb

Give me a break ………Bella Naija were you bribed? show me the creativity in this………
When designers showcase in international shows they grow wings…..there are more designers coming up from Ghana…. Christie Brown get your act together your collections lacks maturity and luxury feel. Your brand is not luxury, u use cheap fabric with a road side tie and dye company and you come and tell us this is luxury
More designers are coming…..you thought you got this game wrapped around your finger then pop comes Duaba Serwa……….
Humility goes a long way ……..my encounter with you was not pleasant
