Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2013: Marianne Fassler presents “Painted, Patched & Patterned”

Sitting right behind the South African fashion designer Marianne Fassler, it was almost like getting to see the show from her point of view.

On day 2 of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2013, Marianne who also showcased a collaborated collection with luxury accessory designer Quamta {click here if you missed it}, took audience members into  a world of  up-cycling and re-claiming. In her studio at Leopard Frock, all scraps fabrics are considered worthy of re-used and in the process of re-imagination, her collection pieces were created, patched and painted into wearable seasonal clothes for the global traveler.

My Verdict
I loved this collection so much. As I sat behind the designer you easily tell that she was happy with the turnout and who can blame her, it was a great show. My fave pieces have to be the image 14 & 15. They’re beautiful dresses that have amazing colour combinations and that I can definitely see Eku Edewor wearing. What do you think of the collection?
