Miss Universe 2011 and newlywed, Leila Lopes of Angola and Thando’s Shoes as the brand launches Africa’s first line of bridal foldable flats – Thando’s Bridal. Lopes is the face of the new line.

Thando’s are lightweight, ballerina flats that fold up and can fit inside a small handbag. They come packaged in a drawstring bag that can double as a makeup purse or wristlet. African women tend to have wider and bigger feet and unfortunately the foldable flats on the market don’t come in wide width and often aren’t available in larger sizes. Thando’s shoes accommodate diverse foot sizes and come in colors and styles that will compliment most bridal color schemes.

Explaining the rationale behind the concept of the new line, Thando’s Co-Founder, Taffi Ayodele, says that every bride needs a fashionable pair of flats to slip into after she’s been posing in her glamorous high heels. She also wants to give a unique but practical gift to her bridesmaids.

Leila Lopes will host an invite only soft launch for Thando’s Bridal this weekend.
