37th State premieres Bolaji Kekere-Ekun’s short film “Nkiru” in Lagos – Exclusive Photos from the Premiere
37th State held a private screening for their short film “Nkiru” in Lagos recently. The 12-minute film tells the tale of what happens when a group of friends disappear from a beach party under mysterious circumstances. The ‘Mami Water’-inspired movie is a nail biter from start-to-finish. Audiences at the premiere were captivated by the movie’s strong story line which raises broader discussions about the mythology which is still heavily practiced in Cuba and Brazil.
The cast boasts some of Nigeria’s finest new talents including KC Ejelonu in lead roles. The supernatural thriller is written and directed by Bolaji Kekere-Ekun and produced by Nkechi Bakare. Also showcased at the premiere was a supporting 20-minute documentary which explored in great depth, the African mermaid mythology as an intricate practice complete with experiences and testimonials.
