Presenting “Terra Firma”! The Spring/Summer 2012 Collection by Mina Evans – Lookbook & Backstage Video

We have had our eyes locked on Mina Evans ever since the Ghanaian label launched in December 2010 by Mina Evans-Anfom. Since then, the brand has blossomed with a budgening clientele and creative collaborations with Vlisco.
Here is the brand new collection from Mina Evans – “Terra Firma“. Mina tells us all about the inspiration and influences for this collection.

“Terra Firma” is a Latin word meaning “firm or solid ground”, the collection intricately incorporates the tie dye technique creating a luxurious marble effect accentuated with beads imported from Czech Republic.

The collection is inspired by the earth with dominant base tones of orange, beige, mustard and brown . Splashes of teal and white are added for softness through the use of raw silks and chiffons. Pieces in the collection include elegant form fitting dresses with impeccable detailing using hand picked embellishments – a signature of the brand.

The collection has been carefully designed to ensure a beautiful marriage of elegance and simplicity without compromising on style and glamour.

I’ll be honest, without the video I would have thought the collection (judging from the photos) are average or below

i really like the Tie-Die. It gives it a different and welcome feel from the African print that we’ve been seeing all over the place.

I like that she used other fabrics too.
And the model is good too. She doesn’t overshadow the clothes with any gymnastics, so you can just focus on the clothes.

i like the way you used the word “gymnastics” LOL

Job well done Mina Evans! The designs are cool and do not portray flamboyant aesthetics.
I also think her designs are a good diversion from the ubiquitous ankara dresses that have shadowed the creativity of many a good designer. BN, keep up the good work!

@no dignity: excuse u???some of us knw exactly wat she has done and if u r intuned wit real authenticity, u will c dat Mina Evans is definitely in d league of high-end designers in Nigeria, her use of simple yellow as u put it and turning it into a simple master piece now dats u think its d senseless color blocking tht is style or d fact that Nigerians have turned Ankara into an eye sore, pls take back wat u said…d fact tht U HAVE NO CLUE as to wat style and design is all about, dat dsn’t mean dis woman’s work isn’t splendid.nyway like u said some of us are mre intuned wit style and class and not the horrendious fashion frenzy happenin’ all around.u said it urself nt every tom, dick and harry probably u inclusive has an eye for style, try nt to live up to ur name….’No Dignity’….*seriously*lol.Mina Evans does it for mi….
