BN Music Premiere: Teni – Lion Heart

Published

 on

Teni is a jazz singer and composer who makes what she terms as Afro-Soul. Laced with semblances of the great Sade Adu, the inspiring singer, who performs with her band The Afro-Renaissance or on occasion, Fela Kuti‘s Egypt 80, was featured in our special “Who Is…” segment. {click here}

With her album “Afrodisiac” on the way, she’s here with her second single “Lion Heart” off this sophomore album effort which is filled with a self-produced sound that transcends genres from jazz and the blues to soul and reggae.

And, reminiscent of and inspired by eclectic influences from Fela Kuti to Marvin Gaye and Bob Marley, “Lion Heart” has a strong and truly timeless message.

    Teni should go back to the basics. This dog will not hunt.

    I’m really liking this. It’s so refreshing to hear some real original music. This is a real artist.
