As She Prepares to Pass the Miss Universe Crown to the Next Queen, BN Beauty Spotlights African Queen, Leila Lopes’ Tenure in Photos
History was made on Monday 12th September 2011 when Angolan beauty hopeful, Leila Lopes won the coveted title of Miss Universe at the age of 25 – She was the first woman from her country to win.
In just 13 days, the 2012 edition of the beauty pageant, hosted by Andy Cohen (known for producing reality shows like the Real Housewives franchise and Being Bobby Brown) and E! News/Fashion Police co-anchor, Guiliana Rancic, will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, USA.
Now 26 years old, the beauty queen who has been around the world championing HIV/Aids prevention, advocating for gay marriage, strutting major runway shows at the New York Fashion week, hanging out with celebrities including Jennifer Hudson, Ludacris, Jay Manuel and Ivanka Trump, and serving as an ambassador for her country, is set to pass the crown to the next beauty queen.
